What Tyres you got???
 

Just having the wheels refurb an want some new rubber,What are people using these days? Iv always had toyo t1r but fancy a change. :)

Next I buy some it will probably be these:

could you not try 2 toyo's and 2 hanooks? you could then try each pair on the front with the other on the back then swap them round to get a real comparrison. when you are done, just stick the slightly less sticky pair on the rear axle so it helps fight the understeer

Toyo T1r's for me. If in any doubt tone stick with what you know is good.

falken are great for the money. although the wheel protectors on the 35 profile is too far from the rim edge on an 18 but ok on a 40 profile on a 17

For what you have Jaffa it's got to be 888's. Well at least on the rear to stop it overtaking the front. :twisted:

That had nothing to with the tyres, I was on about the snow incident!

I can get T1Rs easy enough our suppler said a couple of days , 95+ vat 225/45/17 seams steep :s will look in to the falkens cheers :)

Have the Falken 452's on the golf Tone.. Never been 100% confident with them in the wet but maybe it's the coil over, wheel combo.. Plus seem to really drop off when near the wear markers.. Saying that im about to buy them again as really cheap from camskill. Managed some good miles out of this set too

This is something i noticed on my falken fk452s, and i ended up changing mine before they hit the wear markers. When they're down to 2 or 3mm they just seemed to lose grip in the damp/wet.

But saying that, for the price, they're excellent. Even though i changed them early, i still got a good 20k out of them and thats with several track sessions/Ring trips and a bit of hooning about ;)

That sounds pretty normal to me for any tyre approaching the wear limit.

Personally I think the tyre talk is often the placeabo effect. A bit like asking which oil or which exhaust sounds the best.

I have driven performance vehicles for 22 out of 23 possible years and have not seen any great difference in any of the tyres I have had.

I have however always had premium brands such as Pirrelli, Dunlop, Fulda, Toyo and more recently Falken.
The only noticable difference were that the Fulda (probably the closest to budget I have had) wore quicker.

I havn't had any budget chinese type brands and I think this is where you will see major differences.

If you are able to drive the same piece of road, at the same angle of attack at the same tarmac temperature on 2 or 3 different sets of tyres you may notice a difference. But if you can't then I think you base a good proportion of your opinion on what you paid for them and what everyone else is telling you about their performance.

I agree there are major differences between Budget, Premium and Track orientated tyres. But if you stick within the category you already have and maintain the same speed/load ratings, then you can't go too far wrong.

Just my opinion ;)....

falkens here and am about to put them on my ae86 too!couldnt tell any difference between them and pirrellis or yokies to be honest!

toyo's T1R's here but in future would consider two sets of tyres for different times/use

or maybe pirelli zero's are good I here

I've just had a set of Falken FK453's fitted to mine, can't tell you what they're like yet as the car won't leave the garage this year!

Apart from a brief flirt with some Kumhos I have only run T1r's on mine. You can certainly tell the difference between Kumhos and the Toyo's one is quiet and grippy the other noisy and like driving on ice! The Kumhos were only on for 5k miles!
