That looks perfect, I won't tell Wanda what it cost and just order it :D

SpecB 30-05-2016 08:44 PM

Don't forget the ceramic bearing upgrade at $700 (per bearing!)

Plus You'll need a subframe as well of course........

Funnily enough I was reading up about those the other day, not so widely talked about really but makes a lot of sense!! I'm at circa £500 spent on wheel bearings in the last 4 years.

I made the mistake of going on the site!

Hongkongfooi 30-05-2016 09:07 PM

looks great Dave...looks more of a gap to the disc than I thought from the one you showed me earlier:five:

Ginola 18-09-2016 06:34 PM

Small update,

Did a little seat swapping for something that holds you a little better, drivers side standard passenger side XL to accommodate who ever!!
The total weight saving from this including frames and so forth is just over the weight of 1x normal seat, 18kg lighter than the original setup.

Still have harnesses to fit but they can wait! ;)

Please excuse the phone snaps:-

Looking smart, no doubt putting the standard seat belts in to their buckles is an interesting event?

Rdlangy1 18-09-2016 06:41 PM

Very smart indeed Dave :ok:

Granby 18-09-2016 07:41 PM

Very nice Dave, if i remember correctly you can lift them seats with just one finger as they are so light

yups 6.4kg each ;) the frame and side mounts add a little more still well under 9kg each though!

Hongkongfooi 18-09-2016 08:36 PM

even my slim hips fitted in the drivers seat:doubleup:

C. J. 18-09-2016 08:51 PM

Best get it on track to test it ;)

Consti 19-09-2016 09:27 AM

Looks awesome with the blue cushion inserts, very smart, just needs the STI logo embroided on them now. 😜👍

I'm sure we'll hear about it in a few days time ;)

Red Baron 19-09-2016 03:41 PM

Do you have to relocate the belt clip on a newage seat? They are bolted to the actual seat on a classic.

Aye you have to bolt it somewhere else or fabricate something to bolt it too.

It's bad enough when you have to lie to your other half about the cost of some modification, but to then have to say "don't worry love I'll make your side an XL", Certainly deserves a slap :wife:

Hey! Handbrake fitted in the standard seat!

NL03Scooby 19-09-2016 09:04 PM

With Daves generosity when it comes to giving passenger laps I think the 'fit for all' seat is a great idea, probably easier for everyone to get in and out of too.

I for one didn't fit in the size he bought original for the passages side, shows the kindness of some members to think of others .

555_Si 19-09-2016 10:13 PM

Dave did say he was having to change it as CJ was a lardy arse. :-)

Ginola 12-11-2016 09:29 PM

A long time planned project has finally come to fruition today, as anyone that tracks these cars will tell you fuel cut is a serious issue due to the daft tank/pickup design, and having had my fair share of experiencing this issue first hand I had to do something about it.

I had bought all the parts for this Job (with the exception of 1 or 2 bits) about 9 months ago but never got round to fitting it all as I knew it would be more than a 1 day operation.

I wanted to go with an under bonnet install as I do not like the idea of having all the fuel setup in the boot along with the potential cabin smell there is the noisy bosh 044 pumps to contend with.

I have to say a thank you to FB tuning for loads of useful advise and a massive massive thankyou to C.J for help with advise, planning and installation of all the kit, not to mention the use of his Garage to work in!

parts fitted:
1.5 litre swirl pot
bosh 044 fuel reg
Fuel lab inline fiter,
Fuel lab FPR, (a different one)
Distribution block,
Parallel fuel rails
braided lines with Goodrich fittings + sleeved fuel rail lines.
Racecar mini washer bottle and pump.

Pics:-

The beginning:- last weekend we trial fitted everything except the rails and lines, with various bits drilled for fitting, lines placed and trimmed cut to size then done up in place to insure everything would fit just so, this also gave us the opportunity to find out if we needed any extra bits! one or two more where required.

http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...pszp0byit5.jpg

This weekend we set about the job of fitting it all!

Manifold off!
http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...pskunbtds6.jpg

Rails on! manifold back again!
http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...psklysqbhk.jpg

with all the lines fed through, brackets made and fitted, pumps and filters mounted, lines fitted! I do need to paint that old bracket :)
http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0gnc029t.jpg

even a dinky washer bottle ;)
All done and fuel pressure set!..
http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6b4i22ul.jpg

Now to collar FB and hopefully a dry day to tweek the map :)

NL03Scooby 12-11-2016 09:44 PM

Looks like a top job, well done to both CJ and yourself for getting it all installed and successfully filling what little available free space there is in an Impreza engine bay, the amount of plumbing and pipe work puts a submarine to shame!

stonejedi 12-11-2016 10:42 PM

Very Nice job:doubleup:,and a worthy upgrade especially if used on track fuel starvation is no joke.SJ.

C. J. 13-11-2016 08:57 AM

Pleasure always welcome :)

Rdlangy1 14-11-2016 07:49 AM

Amazing work there by all involved - yet again you keep raising the standard Dave :ok:

Ginola 27-01-2017 11:00 AM

Small update:-
Fuel system got tweaked again a few weeks back, replaced all the rail lines with teflon and fire-sleeved them, removed distribution block and changed reg.

http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...pscnxrpk0f.jpg

Then map tweek again to compensate, running a little more boost now circa 1.75 bar and above!

I need to add this dinky fuel cooler in somewhere..

http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...psaase65me.jpg

And urm, I purchased some new electronics, not rushed with this :norty: but seemed the right way to go with what the car gets used for

http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6yy9bctm.jpg

I've also placed a little order up the road with some well known fabricators, will update again soon!

Rdlangy1 27-01-2017 11:05 AM

Ooooooooooooooh that's gonna be awesome!!!!

Great work and a true credit to you Dave. As always you continue to set the standard :ok:

It's been another couple of weekends of Car play, so thought I would update,

As some of you already know I have run without the rear seats in the car for the last 5 months, I had been planning to fill the gap left by said rear seats with something sensible to make use of the lovely front seats I'd bought, so plans where set in motion and things discussed, and a plan was hatched,

First things first,.. having no seat and a stripped interior is fun for a while (particularly when you run with no plastics and no door trims etc! but it gets a little boomy particularly if your car isn't that quiet to start with, so a rear seat delete/firewall was in order (No! rear passengers are too heavy!)

C.J. had managed to source some aluminium honeycomb sheet as a base and kindly let me pinch a piece! several cardboard cutouts to check fitment! a jigsaw and a short while later and we had a board, backed with sound deadening pads and material too!

It fits!
http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...psspzjmk6t.jpg

Some Carpet was ordered to make the front a little bit more interior friendly and add to the sound deadening effect, + some anti vibration tape added to stop any rubbing noises that might occur with any chassis flex,

http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...psxxy1clg4.jpg

Seat delete done!!

After pre ordering this 5 weeks previously to arrive on a specific day! I was very nervous that this next piece of the puzzle would turn up on time or not.. I was unsure! but thankfully it did.
http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...psgofxx0ho.jpg

The next day Chris and myself set about pulling what remained of my interior out and cramming the above into the back of the car, surprisingly this went in without having to remove a door! a tourniquet was used on the legs, to squeeze it in, several hours later after some measuring and marking and a spot of sanding /welding and some drilling..
http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8g788yji.jpg
http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...psy2x2nssc.jpg

And the cage was in!, harnesses where fitted, and seat delete re-installed!
http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...psmpkvtjwl.jpg

Next Day I set about completing the remainder of the carpet trimming and plastic re-install + re-paint of the lower crash bar and under seal the bottom of the car.

Results of all our labour!:-

Seatbelts or harnesses available!

http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...pskiy170ok.jpg

http://i1192.photobucket.com/albums/...psqsxa1bhu.jpg

I cannot thank C.J. enough for all his help in all this.. I am really happy with the results :)

BIG"E" 19-02-2017 09:34 PM

Looking very good ..:10:

Rdlangy1 19-02-2017 09:43 PM
