Auto trader

I have just been on auto trader browsing at some subaru's now I'm in a pickle I've just seen a nice silver classic with 69000 , full service history on a v plate down in England price they are looking for is £2225 or pay that kind of money into my classic looking good again .

scotty 25-04-2014 01:37 AM

Just found this little cracker in Glasgow with in my budget as well 1998 Terzo can transfer all my parts across if I go for it then I can have more money for more performance parts what should I do. Fix mine or buy another one any way here is a few pictures.

Both very clean examples in the pictures and both have full service histories and low mileage for their age .

Willowsdad 25-04-2014 03:33 AM

I'd definitely go and look at the terzo. Looks very nice. And by transferring bits over, it'll make a great car for not a lot of money.

:agreed: 100%

It would be good to have another blue scoob in SES...

Steve_PPP 25-04-2014 09:24 AM

The terzo looks great apart from the silly bonnet scoop - but thats easily changed. I'd go with that if its a clean straight car

Banstead Stig 25-04-2014 10:03 AM

I like the look of the Terzo too.

Worthy of a look I would say.

The key benefit of keeping your car is you know it, warts and all. However, if there is a straight car out there and you can make a better one from the two on budget then seems sensible to me.

Also, with the Terzo, provided you don't go mad, you can put it back to standard if you wanted at some point and have a future classic on your hands which will command a premium (hopefully)!

ScoobyStu 25-04-2014 11:32 AM

Terzo looks lovely, definitely worth a look.

Red Baron 25-04-2014 12:48 PM

Having just had quotes for my arches from a couple of people local to work, I'd say make sure they are rock solid and don't buy one with a bloody sun roof in it, pretty much doubles the cost of having the roof resprayed.

Contemplating doing Germany and then selling mine, can't be bothered to throw a load of money at it. That or buy a solid one with a blown engine and transfer over my low mileage mechanicals and sell the rest as spares.

scotty 25-04-2014 02:18 PM

Been texting the guy about the Terzo comes with part service history , 11 months mot , 6 months tax , no problems with the engine , got a few issues a little bit of rust on the back left arch and few little car park dings which can be sorted so I think this car won't hang around long enough for me to go and have a look as he's got someone looking at it tonight and again tomorrow . He is going to send me some close up pics of the rust on the rear arch then I will go and have a look at it if he still got after the weekend .

scotty 26-04-2014 12:28 AM

A little more info on the Terzo its fitted with a ESL daughterboard and mapped to 265bhp with pops and bangs with proof from Wallace performance in Aberdeen , 255lph walbro fuel pump fitted , 4 pots fitted and a stage 1 exedy clutch and a full decat system . The suspense is killing me going to give him a txt on sunday .

scotty 26-04-2014 08:41 PM

I asked him to send me some recent pics of the car and here it is

http://i839.photobucket.com/albums/z...psbf602f52.jpg
http://i839.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps0f1cd62c.jpg
And this is the pic of the wee bit of rust on the arch
http://i839.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps9e01f49b.png

So hopefully this will be my new toy if it doesn't sell tomorrow as he's got another viewing tomorrow .

Steve_PPP 26-04-2014 09:34 PM

If you're happy to sort the rust on the arch then i'd definitely go with that!

The wheels look like the genuine Prodrive GT1's off the RB320 as well, rather than the cheaper Inovit Torque replicas (that i had!). Not cheap to buy and hard to find as well....

scotty 26-04-2014 10:05 PM

Well I will be asking for a bit off the asking price to get the arch sorted and I will be replacing those wheels with mine I just hope the car doesn't sell tomorrow and its fitted with a flamer kit so that's a must to get rid of .

Good point.

They were also produced in silver for both the GB270 saloon (and black for GB270 wagon) though which were PCD100 as they were WRX-based editions. RB320 was a bad example to use ;)

scotty 26-04-2014 10:36 PM

Has GB270 alloys on it just checked the for sale add on gumtree .

scotty 28-04-2014 07:48 PM

Still got the car at the moment text him to let him know I'm putting my cheque in the bank tomorrow he texted backed with let me know when it clears and I will let you know if I still have the car .

ScoobyStu 28-04-2014 09:27 PM

Can you not put a small deposit on it for him to hold it for you until the cheque clears mate?

scotty 28-04-2014 10:13 PM

Might ask him that tomorrow but I don't think he will go for it .

scotty 02-05-2014 01:46 PM

Away to Helensburgh tomorrow to look at Terzo all knocked off £300 off the asking price that will goes towards fixing the arch I'm happy with that .

scotty 02-05-2014 04:54 PM

This has just came up for sale and the owner is a lady

Why does this happen when you find something you like or about to go and buy the selling price is fixed at £2100 .

Lucky 02-05-2014 05:48 PM

That's nice too.

Mortster 02-05-2014 05:51 PM

I prefer the light blue one.

Whats with classic owners and blob scoops....

scotty 02-05-2014 07:35 PM

The mica blue seems to be the better option has full service history with all receipts of proof and has had 5 owners where as the Terzo has part service history and has had 11 owners and both have good uprated parts fitted and good bhp .

Was just about to post more or less the same comment! Obviously the style in that area.

scotty 03-05-2014 04:52 PM

Mica blue one got sold and still waiting for the guy to get back to me about the Terzo so that I can have a look at it .

scotty 03-05-2014 09:40 PM

Guy got back to me going down tomorrow to look at the Terzo then go home to speak to the wife to discuss it .

Banstead Stig 03-05-2014 09:43 PM

Best of luck (with both! ;))

scotty 03-05-2014 09:52 PM

Thanks trolley jack in car ready for tomorrow to give the Terzo a good look over thank god I didn't go and look at the Mica blue txt the lady owner got a reply with has rust issues on both arches and on the roof .

have a chat with him

scotty 03-05-2014 10:44 PM

Already buying his FMIC off him I would need to respray the whole shell back to its original colour which wouldn't be a cheap job to do .

riiidaa 03-05-2014 10:46 PM

quite like the purple tbh, that's why i mentioned it

riiidaa 03-05-2014 10:48 PM

i do like Terzo tho, proper blue for a scoob

scotty 03-05-2014 11:14 PM

Well if it is as good as it looks in the pictures and has no underlying issues and if the wife lets me have it then I will talk to him about price and take it from there .

scotty 04-05-2014 01:31 AM

Just done a valuation check on the Terzo and it's been price at £1230 for private sale I wonder what he would say to that if I showed him lol .

Banstead Stig 04-05-2014 07:43 AM

I doubt it'd be all that polite!

I know it's bloody shocking what they value our scoobies at .

You might be able to use it to your advantage though. I'd mention how much of a piss take it is and how hard that sort of thing makes selling a car. Might make him more inclined to cut a deal with you as you know your onions and plenty of others would try it on with that info!

scotty 04-05-2014 09:06 AM

That's what it's all about cutting a deal well I'm in Helensburgh with trolley jack a torch ready to go once I've done my inspection and had a drive of it checked all paperwork and relevant docs then I will go home and let him stew for a bit speak to the BOSS(aka the wife) then let him know .

riiidaa 04-05-2014 10:22 AM

Remember arches rust from the inside out

scotty 04-05-2014 03:14 PM

That was worth the 4 hour drive to see the terzo jacked it up check all 4 arches all solid on the inside , front bumper needs a full respray and its already cut for a FMIC that's a bonus , the back arches just need treated and resprayed as its surface rust , engine is so quiet , full decat hks system , 3 gauges fitted with centre pod but need to be wired up , took it for a test drive oh yes liked that part it can shift , 2 folders full of paperwork and receipts , underneath is all good so I gave him an offer in cash due to the work that needs done which is cosmetic he's going to think about it and get back to me and I think he will take the offer so watch this space .

Banstead Stig 04-05-2014 04:00 PM

Sounds promising.

Red Baron 04-05-2014 07:14 PM

Don't mean to worry you but are you sure the gauges haven't been disconnected for a reason, could the owner be hiding oil pressure or boost issues?

Done one on my last week and it came back at £1800 (IIRC), they then phoned me on Monday and asked if I wanted to complete on the deal........I'll leave you to think of what was going through my mind, although not coming out of my mouth in the reply.

scotty 04-05-2014 10:09 PM

I know what you were thinking Scott .

scotty 05-05-2014 12:42 AM

Well going back to Helensburgh today to pick up the terzo and I managed to get £500 off the asking price , looks like I will need to buy another tax disc holder if Steve has any left , already sourced a classic bonnet scoop and bonnet vents in the same colour off a fellow member on Scottish scoobies who owns a terzo so tomorrow looking forward to the drive back then start stripping mine to put on the terzo then get rid of my silver classic .

Steve_PPP 05-05-2014 10:01 AM

Nice one Scotty - still got tax disc holders and stickers in stock (although getting low on stickers, only about 10 left)

scotty 05-05-2014 10:25 AM

Still got my stickers I will order another tax disc holder when I get home tonight .
