Hi mate give sti Mayhew a pm on here mate, great service great prices he will look after you mate, I was there last Saturday for four new tyres, first time I've ever used him and now I don't think I will ever use anyone else.

I use 255/35 18's and have had 888's and now federal 595rsR's
888's where on the wheels when I got them and where great , couldn't afford them so went with federals and for 600miles I wish I'd found the extra money . Now they are very good and close to a 888 but not quit there but I can live with that at £100 a corner :)
Federals avalible in a 245 :)

Thanks £100 a corner sound good :-D

Im putting them on 9.75 wheels do you think 255 will be better suited than 245 ?

Also whats are they on you car ?

Thanks dan I appreciate it, russ I can price some tyres up in different sizes for you on Monday if that's any good for you? If you get your own I can also fit them if required.

Type-r-russ 25-05-2014 09:21 AM

What do you think on nakang ns2 ?

C. J. 25-05-2014 09:48 AM

255 if it was me
Believe 9.75's

Sti mayhew 25-05-2014 10:00 AM

A lot of people call them ditch finders. My mate ran them on his audi a4 and they wore out very quickly but it is a big heavy car, also a few guys run them on civic type r's also with bad reviews. If your looking at a budget type tyre I'd go asymetric as directional budgets seem to always go out of shape and wear unevenly.

Type-r-russ 25-05-2014 10:08 AM

not after a buget just read mixed reviews wondered i they where any good so would you recomend the federals is well

Type-r-russ 25-05-2014 10:11 AM

Type-r-russ 25-05-2014 10:21 AM

just had a look at the federals they look good

C. J. 25-05-2014 10:57 AM

After some miles you will like , just stuck with them :)

C. J. 25-05-2014 10:58 AM

C. J. 25-05-2014 11:00 AM

Type-r-russ 25-05-2014 11:33 AM

thats where i had a look at them on my tyres £97 all in free shipping. :-)

Yes abw kit

Cant find many wheels 9.75 with et20 what are yours ?

C. J. 25-05-2014 11:45 AM

Works
I'll go check size
9.5's 18's et20

Type-r-russ 25-05-2014 12:19 PM

do you think 9.5 over 9.75 ?

C. J. 25-05-2014 12:34 PM

Up to you but seem to work and look right :)

Type-r-russ 25-05-2014 01:49 PM

I assume he's talking about the Nankang NS2R if he's comparing them to Federal RSR's/888's - its a new tyre and getting pretty good reviews for the money from what i've read so far.

The old NS2's were definitely ditch finders though ;)

I've been happy with my Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas. No tramlining and decent grip in wet and dry. Not sure they do your size, I run 235/40/18s on the T25, currently £109 from Mytyres.

I spoke to Budgie before buying my 888s He runs the NS-2R soft 120's (they do a 120 wear and 180 wear version) on his track car and said he could not tell the difference between them and 888s. So I would think a bargain at 110 odd a corner. the only reason I bought 888s is TheHandbrake said.. JuST GET THEM! :yeah: (888s wear rate is 100 i.e. wears out quicker!),

I had also noticed after speaking with Demon tweaks that you might be able to get the Federal FZ-201 track tyres (these are fitted to the ring rental cars) and very sticky, slightly better wear rate than the 888s as well, and don't tend to go off when they get hot but they do have a 10 day lead time getting them into the UK.. The Federal 595's should be available off the shelf.

hope that helps! :)

There is also of course the new AD-08R from Yokohama.... ;)

Steve_PPP 29-05-2014 12:28 PM

I assume those Federal FZ-201 are not road legal?

If Budgie can't tell the difference between 888's and NS-2R's, then the Nankangs are a bloody bargain.

Ginola 29-05-2014 12:30 PM

Think I was barking up the wrong tree for Russ, seems you cant get the FZ-201 in 35 profile at 18" :(

They are road legal Steve ;) the info on the description is not accurate I rang them and they confirmed all sizes selectable are orderable, as per Federals website.

Ginola 29-05-2014 12:36 PM

The NS-2R's on Soft will most likely be the next thing I stick on, either that or the FZ-201s

The 888s still have plenty of meat left on them atm ;)

They are available in the size that Russ wants...
