MAYDAY FROM PT. OFF "SALTY" DAVIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tally-ho Chaps! I say - was on duty last night and what an eventful one it was!

Got the mayday at twenty-one hundred!
Poor old Salty was on patrol when he was jumped by a gaggle of Mitsubishis!!!!!!!!! They must have a new cloaking device! Need the "Boffs" onto that one sharpish!

Anyway Chaps, he instinctively executed a very tight turn - so tight the centrifugals went pear-shaped and to buggery and the motor was starved of "glug" just at the wrong time! The sideways thrust gagged the nylar composites and you can guess the rest! What!

Lo and behold, the internals put on a right show and met the tarmac with a clankety-clank! Fortunately Salty had ducked into low cloud and mist and was able to cruise to a halt undetected! Spiffing manoeuvres what!

Anyway, he was straight on the horn to me at "Control", and I dispatched a Tribeca (think Thunderbird 2) to recover him before the enemy had a chance to seek him out. Bish Bash Bosh I can tell you! Scrambled "Green Wing" in a trice to provide escort and got his "kite" back to the workshops sharpish, pronto, and pretty damn quick, I can tell you!

After a weetabix and a steaming brew, Salty should be right as rain, and I expect an update from him when the "Boffs" have checked the damage.

Sadly he may be "non-ops" for a while!!!!!

Messages of sympathy from both operational pilots and Tactical Mayhem Team are allowed under these special circumstances.

Simpleton out............................................

Re: MAYDAY FROM PT. OFF "SALTY" DAVIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would it be appropriate under such circumstance to drop the formailities sir? Thank you Sir!

Salty old fruit, it is with much sadness and a heavy heart that I read this devastating news. One of "Our Boys" ambushed by those "Terrible Hun" scoundrels. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy for you at the extremely difficult time.

After reading the accounts above, the pride that is welling up inside of me is a deep ache of pure unadulterated loss. For you to lose your internals in such a dasterdly way to those "rotters" but still pull off airmanship of legendry proprtions in escaping these fiends is purely spiffing. To limp back to "Wagon Towers" under the wing of T2 shows the level of commitment that only a Squadron Member could ever display. I think there should be a medal of some description for your dedication to duty under such overwhelming odds. You are without doubt an airman of magnificent stature and a displayer of derring doo and spiffingness of the highest order.

I will set to work immediately to provide the squadron with an uprated cloaking detection system, as I think I may burst if this happened again. I also intend launching a counter raid deep into the "Hun Monsters" lines. Luckily, I have recently upgraded my cloaking device and I "appear" to be driving a saloon, such is the deviousness of this cloak! I will cuase as much mayhem amongst their ranks as is humanly possible and shout with much gusto on my daring escape........

...... That ones for Salty, you Hun Monsters you!!!!

I sincerely hope that your narf wangle droplets were not damaged in your incident. As that would be more than a mere mortal like myself could cope with.

For The Queen............... for The Squadron................. for Salty!

Hurrah!!!!!

Salty reporting bottom end loss to Squadron stop. Official bottom end status; FUBAR stop. Squadron Leader confirmed Wagon Down status stop. Quick review of engine bay shows bits of block\shrapnel centred around Nr 1 cyclinder, probably a rod through the block stop. Awaiting Chockington damage report stop. Salty, down but not out stop.

Is it just me?

I’ve not really taken this thread in, but having just read it from the start again I feel I must speak out.

I know it's a free Forum and a free country so Baz can say what he likes, but would any of the Wgn Sqn honestly post a comment about their Wagon being 'Superior' or 'we rule' on a Saloon related thread? (Answer on a buttered piece of toast please, usual address)

Wgn Sqn are not superior and we do not rule, but we are ‘completely hatstand’ and loved all over the World.

Trails…

If you want to talk about your engine within the Sqn, then use Code Level 2... [message]wibble wibble mail of the Hot[/message] ...AKA Hotmail.

SUBARMAN 29-01-2009 09:58 PM

Re: MAYDAY FROM PT. OFF "SALTY" DAVIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having re-read the thread, Baz's issues seem to concern originality, saloons being more powerful than those Imprezas of a style beginning with E or W (he doesn't mention "vans"), and the fact that stuff is first tested on saloons. I may have misunderstood but have drawn my conclusion based on the words I have read.

Baz may be right, but it is not something that I have ever really felt the need to worry about. Perhaps that is because I also own a Subaru saloon! The concept of the Wagon Squadron is probably quite original though.

Baz will correct me no doubt, as I thought his "beef" was about there being too much "wagon talk" on the forum. I am still waiting for him to offer examples of where this is happening, so his reasoning for a saloonie thread still needs amplification. Over to you Baz - the forum floor is yours! We need a more detailed explanation of what you want changed.

sorry 666, I can be a bit slow on the uptake sometimes and missed your reply

not sure about the origin and the number of doors my mods were tried and tested on first...I've just read around the subject and tried to plan my mods in such way that they complimented each other and I understood the benefit of fitting each one. I have to be honest and say I'm quite proud of what I've achieved and can be (probably quite fairly), misconstrued as a bit gobby  Nothing against saloons in the slightest, but i'm not really a follower of any motor sport; I brought my wagon because I wanted a fast car I could easily carry my BMX in

what spec was your 2.5? 385.4\360 has to be close to what I was running before mine went pop on a 2.0 with standard internals :paranoid:

Bernice Bucklefoot protocol initiated, three bar blues and candy shuffle soufflé are go...2.5 semi closed deck block re-linered to 2.33, with full forged internals sourced. Built by SMG, run in one round of TA 2007 and 3k road miles. Made 556bhp on SC55 bolt on turbo. Decision supported by Mocom Wagon Squadron Special Air Movement Team, excerpt from report below to give context to old performance.

To put things into perspective to achieve your 2.0ltr/18G power output the boost profile was.........

3000 1.2bar
4000 1.6bar
5000 1.55bar
6000 1.5bar
7000 1.47bar

Plotting the 18G's compressor map to achieve the same power at each engine speed you would now need to run just...........

3000 0.90bar
4000 1.21bar
5000 1.18bar
6000 1.17bar
7000 1.12bar
8000 1.00bar right on the compressors choke line so no more left in it.

Official status of new build will be Hotel Oscar Lema Yankee Sierra Hotel Indigo Tango.
