The ring next year

Does anyone know what dates will be for the ring 2014 trip so that I can organise time off for it

Red Baron 24-06-2013 10:23 AM

Track opening dates aren't usually announced until the new year, will hopefully be one of the 2 bank holiday weekends in May (ideally the later one otherwise I won't be going).

The 2014 calendar for "the ring" is normally announced in the January.

Hopefully there will be adequate public access available between the dates below,

Friday 23rd to the 27th May 2014

Which is over the last bank holiday in May.

Recently we have left on the Friday morning and returned on the following Tues.

It *should* be the dates, but as mentioned they may change. The opening times for the Touristenfahrten sessions on the Nurburgring are not announced until January.

Nothing we can do about it except wait and see.....

I fancy coming to this next year , not sure though about actualy going on the track is it possible to just tag along ? :drive:

555_Si 04-07-2013 06:59 PM

To be honest, you're probably want to do a lap anyway, but tagging along will still be good fun.

I'm sure you can jump in for some passenger laps. If I go, which I plan to, I'll take you round. Though I may take the Golf R32 next year.

SpecB 04-07-2013 08:35 PM

I'm thinking of taking the Legacy next year, should make the trip over more comfortable!

SamSTI 04-07-2013 08:53 PM

I just can't wait to go lol.

Still in two minds whether to go round the ring or not, all depends if I get enough practice on tracks before hand, Brands is practice round 1 lol.

I had no practice Sam, just do it :P early in the morning before breakfast it was nice and quite.

Your welcome to come round and use the seat/wheel with GT5 if you want to learn which corner goes where.. but it is not a ticket to be able to drive fast at the ring.

Take it steady and you will be fine!

More the fact I'm at 2.5k revs at 85 compared to 4k in the impreza! The JDM box gets a bit boring on that drive!

As most of you know I dont take much persuading to have a few days at the Ring and barring disaster i will be coming along next year.
As allways i will be available should any SES members want a little help mastering the Ring, especially the first timers. It would be a real shame to go all that way and return still a Ring Virgin.
Big thanks to Ian for putting us up and for organising another great weekend.

The lap I had this year with Neil was unblievable, I think I joined `The privileged few`? :worthy:

Can`t wait for next year, look forward to having a lap with a certain `old boy` and if its damp would love a ride with `The wet specialist`, laps payed for of course :ok:

Arrghh, want to go back now, but still paying for last time... roll on next year.

Bolesroor 10-08-2013 07:57 PM

Today Liz had a lap with Neil (scoobyslayer) at Bruntingthorpe :ok:

Looks like ring laps might be back on for next year? :yeah:

Only problem is I think she wants Neil to drive

:sos: :-D

ScoobyStu 10-08-2013 09:03 PM

Lol, good on her. Bet that fun!!

Nige 12-08-2013 11:10 PM

Back there in a few weeks. Still time for those who may want b&b. :drive:

555_Si 10-12-2013 07:16 PM

arrghh, getting itchy feet, started work on getting the Golf R32 back on the road, so will probably take that this time, been 3 years tucked up in the garage now.

Scooby i think is a little worst for wear on the engine side, i don't want to risk another 1000 mile round trip in it with track days in the middle.

Don't worry though Scooby will be back out once R32 sorted.

Lol, I think I might have to ask Iain nicely to see if he'll take me for a lap round, can't be as bad as Steve's lap last year, I honestly thought he was going for the Armco.
