Mirror Switch

Has anyone moved the mirror switch in a bugeye from the centre console to the door card? Wiley's bug/hawk conversion has the switch to adjust the mirrors in the door card but it is not wired in!

The switch (Toyota 183574) is the same as here http://bbs.scoobynet.com/lighting-an...ing-block.html

Cheers

Alan

Its a ball ache, my interior is the same as yours. Started to run wires around then gave up.

My plan is to fit a newer door at some point, which will have the correct loom inside. Down side is the black changes from Blue fleck to gold, meaning a respray too.

At least with WR blue you wont have to respray.

In the meantime I'm modding the centre to re-house it back there.

Why?

Hawk interior conversion, mirror dongle is on the door, not console.

I also remember having to modify the switch housing slightly to take the wiring block.

Yep I had done it before. The only difficult part is getting it through the rubber sleeve that goes to the door. It's worth doing though to get a neat instal and prevent any water ingress. If I remember I used a knitting needle thing I found with some string attached from the door side. Once the string was attached tied the wires to it - used loads of silicon lubricant but got the wires though in the end. Very fiddly but be patient!

There's a guide online somewhere that was helpful - I'll see if I can find it.

OK, it looks like this job should be put to the back of my list until I have more information! I don't have the original bugeye mirror switch and haven't checked where the original wiring is, but I think it is under the centre console. I presume the Toyota 183574 switch I do have uses a different plug/socket fixing also.

The bit of the door card which houses the switches looks like it should screw into a bracket. However, this is missing and there's nothing to attach it to. Is this bracket easily available does anyone know?

TIA ;)

The bracket is what's makes the door different, its available from Subaru though. The old one Wiley would have taken off, as its just slightly the wrong shape for the old style door cards, and as you've found out, the screw holes don't line up.
