ecutek licence??

Hi all, been looking at a ecutek that has licence on ebay running around 400bhp i have no supporting mods as of yet but slowly looking into buying the right bits! would it be ideal to buy or to walk away iv heard that only the mapper can access the ecu programme whats your thoughts cheers

Scott.T 30-11-2012 09:31 PM

ECUTEK licence on an ECU will save you about £250 on your remap if you end up mapping the standard ECU (this is only applicable to 1999 > ECU).
So if the ECU goes for more then or near to £250 it's not worth the risk you may aswell just map your existing ECU.

It's wrong of the seller to advertise it with a BHP figure attached, as the map in the ECU will also not be suitable for your car.

mapping on a ecutec is not a generic mapp .its tailer made to suit each car to its needs . @ £200 + postage i wouldnt bother .

Fair play mate!! probly be ideal to get what parts i need and have them fitted just before a remap!! Cheers for the repies!!

would it be worth me buying a gizzmo boost controller as there not over priced? just looking for that bit more power untill i have the funds to get done what i want? i payed jjp a visit today hoping to come back with some bits its defo aladdins cave but a lil pricey? i know you get what you pay for lol

Gizzmo is very good IMO thats one of the reasons we carry stock............

bonner 02-12-2012 05:52 PM

Nice whats the damage?? Do i need a perrin solonoid?

asperformance 02-12-2012 08:28 PM

depends which one you buy but most popular is under £200inc. - comes complete with its own solenoid nothing extra required

on a side note you could simply have your ECU "open source" mapped and save the licence fee anyhows

bonner 02-12-2012 09:41 PM

Whats open source map mate? im lookin and getting more power without a remap at the mo as i want to buy all the bits i want first before i get mapped ive heard good things about the gizmo but dont no anybody who owns and uses one to get some real feed back?

Scott.T 02-12-2012 10:55 PM

open source type mapping is only for 2001> ECU

asperformance 03-12-2012 03:36 PM

thought he had a new-age for some reason, classic then??

bonner 04-12-2012 04:07 AM

Nah new age blobeye!

asperformance 04-12-2012 12:42 PM

in that case you can "open source" map as stated above........

bonner 04-12-2012 09:13 PM

Can u explain what open sauce mapping is?? Cheers

asperformance 05-12-2012 08:51 AM

its similiar to Ecutek except there is no "license fee" to pay...........

bonner 05-12-2012 09:22 AM
