Got Benji's old car a long while ago now, with the view to stripping it and then sending it to the Subaru heaven.

Wasn't until I'd taken 90% of the bits off, I saw how clean and solid it was underneath.

Well today It went for its first drive, although very slowly, and on my private ground....as I'm just missing front brakes now.

I used my pool of parts to make it 99% Original, no bling or chavtastic bits, pretty much how it left the factory ( Apart from the bonnet, wheels )

You can just see it in the photo's but the bonnet isn't 406, so I'm still after a mint or near as possible mint 406 bonnet.

was you then...i see it parked in the pits at brands tidy example..i did think it was a shame it was being broke up so its nice to see its alive and well :)

Mortster 01-04-2014 06:19 PM

I've put a Z4 instead of the 2C in it, so once I get the brakes on the front I can take it out for a proper spin.

Mortster 13-04-2014 03:52 PM

Maiden Voyage today, went gingerly up to the Surrey Meet. Everything works, little clonk from the right front strut, no issue.

Engine light on though...pooh, and no boost. I'll sort that though.

Classics really are very different to Newages, everything about them feels different, and that's with no boost.

Still, all a learning process for the R.

Ginola 13-04-2014 04:09 PM

:)) Nice it does look very clean in those there arches!

Banstead Stig 13-04-2014 05:43 PM

Looks very clean close up in the flesh.

Definitely a good decision to save it from the knacker's yard!

ScoobyStu 13-04-2014 08:28 PM

Nice one mate, looks like you've done a good job with that. Hats off...

Mortster 05-07-2014 12:31 PM

Second rolling today today, first didn't last very long

Made 262bhp, so more than happy with that. Time to just drive it now and get on with the R

That's a healthy figure, how much boost

Mortster 05-07-2014 01:38 PM

Just 0.9, running just a tiny bit rich. Charlie said may still have a tiny leak, so could make more.

I should be doing stuff to R1GNO, but the V1 keeps distracting me...

Nice set of clean STI seats. Still hunting for a perfect set of door cards.

Swapped the clock face over for this. Was a bargain!

I like it.
Looking good man.
I can't bring myself to sell mine every time I look at it. Examples like yours reinforce my thoughts of their awesomeawesomeawesomenessnesness....

Mortster 21-09-2014 09:19 AM

After worrying about the Cat for its MOT, discovered that a pre 1994 car doesn't even need one! ( Import versions only )

Oddly I rang a few places first, 2 wouldn't even entertain the notion of a Catless MOT on a Subaru ( even though its in the MOT bible ) Then the 3rd place I rang, said straight away " Yep, that's fine, it goes through as a Cat Less and as long as it meets 3.5% its all good"

Sailed through everything....apart from headlights! The adjusters have stopped working.

Rusti 22-09-2014 08:44 AM

That is looking seriously sweet man.

Tyler 22-09-2014 12:10 PM

Not being happy with the dash loom being wrong, I tracked down a guy braking a STI V2, so I had the lot off him.

Takes ages to get out! Also took the opportunity to swap the dash out for a mint one. The one I had in it had slight blue paint spatter on the sides. Barely visible, but I knew it was there.

This means the IC spray now works again.

The old loom didn't have the plug for the IC Button, or the connector for the IC timer that sits up inside the dash.

Getting greedy now. Picked up another set of ST2's

Not as good as the last set, but were 1/4 the price! Need a damn good clean first.

scotty 10-12-2014 08:34 PM

Just pure Greed having two sets mind you its a blessing in disguise using one as a spare and get rid of the space wafer saver .

Rliamharpurb 17-03-2015 09:26 AM
