Clay mitt!

Got myself one of these today.. seemed very cheap compared to one or two others and I often drop claybars by accident :|

Might have to give it a test drive at the weekend, as the scoob is well overdue a good deep clean and polish. :polish::polish:

Looks interesting

Be interesting to see what you think Dave. Never seen these before.

Well gave it a go today. I had washed it last week so just gave a quick rinse with the pressure washer then used some megs nzxt + a bit of snow foam in a bucket + some dodo juice clay lube for fun, it worked well! And fast, I had to go back over 1 or 2 bits to get 1 or 2 spots that I missed but it left a glass like finish, it took a similar amount of elbow grease but obviously much bigger surface area your working with so a lot quicker to complete.
To give an idea I started at 2pm and managed to get it finished washed dried + polished and waxed by 6.30! (Including re-cleaning the wheels (as I blasted up the road in the morning ;) ) Bargin for 12.99 in my mind.

Mmmmm sounds good, thanks for the input I may have to look at one of these myself

Never seen one of them before - looks interesting - may have to investigate myself !

andy-m 25-03-2014 04:35 PM

did yuo need any lube like with a clay bar or water or do you just use it dry after you washed the car ?

Rdlangy1 25-03-2014 05:02 PM

I always use a lube - detailing spray. Find with just water the clay bar sticks :-)

Rdlangy1 25-03-2014 05:02 PM

And u can't use them dry - u will cause holograms and u wudnt actually be able to move the bar

... I used some megs NZXT wash in a bucket with some warm water + 1 squirt of PH Neutral snow foam, + some squirts on dodo juice clay lube, though you would be fine with the water in bucket shampoo/snow foam as that on its own is very slippy.

You would never dry clay anything, it wouldn't work.

Watch this vid for a quick guide to the process. then imagine using something the size of a mitt to achieve the same results.

I still haven't got round to buying a clay bar kit yet I must remind myself to get one .

andy-m 25-03-2014 09:23 PM

yeah I knew you don;t dry-clay, but this is a mitt, hence why I asked. never seen one before. Think i'll grab one come payday and experiment.

Water and wash/rinse the mitt, clean car first ofc, I really like it, saved a heap of time and couldn't see any marring.

andy-m 01-04-2014 07:14 PM

well, I bought a mitt today and clayed and waxed the car.
I have had some paintwork refreshed since I last clayed the car.

I think for a car thats been clayed before, the mitt is definitely better than the clay bar. If the car has never been clayed before or if you have any new paint, then I think the bar is better than the mitt for the first claying session. after that the mitt should be fine.
