JDM AVCS onto a CDB?

Would like to know if any machine work is needed to fit JDM avcs heads onto a CDB from a old classic?

As i for one run a CDB with avcs heads no, but i would get it skimmed to make sure the headgasket seals ok after my last build :)

Perfect.

Thanks James

Shouldn't be any issues - JDM heads will be 2.0 so the correct bore - as Anger says, make sure you get block/heads skimmed to be sure.

Aladdin 07-06-2011 07:25 PM

Even if going 2.1 they should be fine?

Anger 07-06-2011 07:27 PM

yeah i'll be using mine on my 2.35 Kas

Aladdin 07-06-2011 07:46 PM

Without changing anything on them, I assume they are good for 600+?

SpecB 08-06-2011 06:55 AM

If you go 2.1 make sure the heads are opened out to match the bore size on the Block or you'll have a nasty step. Same as you have to do fitting 2.0 heads to a 2.5.

Makes more sense. I am in a little dilema between buliding either a forged 2.0l with a closed deck block or going 2.1. The costs involved in building a 2.0l is more affordable compared to building a 2.1.

2.1 including parts(you can source full stroker kit from Advance Automotives from £1250-£1450),will be cheaper option.

Yes yes Jura!

Have to admit not a bad price for a stroker kit. Are those rods the longer version? The parts for the 2.0l are only costing me £550 including CP pistons, Mahle rods & ACL bearings. Aiming for a engine good for 550+

Yes agree if you are source these parts cheaper why not build 2.0,but i would recommend also 12mm or 14mm ARP headstuds(or Cosworth High Tensile),depends on your budget, this you will need also on stroker if you are aiming more than 400-450bhp.

Not sure if they are longer version, but you can ask.

I have also taken the headstud coversion into account but also looking at the cosworth alternative.

My engine is built for around 550bhp+ and i have 12mm ARP headstuds.

Cosworth have good reputation, but still not sure if its 14mm will be much better option than Cosworth option.

Whats the standard headstud size, 11mm? What turbo you going for Jura?

At moment is Blouch Dominator 3.0XT-R(here known as Scoobyclinic SC50),but we are thinking in next year GT35R.

Not sure about the standard size of head studs.

confused by some of the comments in this thread..........
bearing in mind that 2.0 engines have been run at over 700bhp why do you need a stroker kit for 400-450bhp??

after doing a lot of research, personally think that the Cosworth "uprated" studs are not the bet option due to being made from "tool steel" which can have numerous issues if marked/dropped - not least being it becomes extremely brittle!!

we also now do a 14mm head stud conversion kit

I was just suggest if he want go route 2.0 why not go 2.1 route, you can pick up full kit from some companies

Agreed on 14mm

Not so. 2.1 and 2.0 are same bore size, difference in volume is due to the stroke

Thanks for posting that I'd actually just come in to correct myself - you may slightly oversized the bores if they were damaged and are fitting plus sized pistons but not by enough to warrant opening up the heads unless you are totally OCD!

Sorry for any confusion!

SpecB 09-06-2011 06:53 AM

I'm running 11m ARP headstuds on my 2.5 - no extra machining needed and should be good up to 450/450.

What would be the difference between going for a stroker kit with standard rod size but with stroker pistons? Compared to the longer rod version kit.

SpecB 09-06-2011 04:36 PM

I thought the stroke difference came from the crank shaft?

Still on 11mm at 603bhp /585lbs :ok:

Anger 09-06-2011 06:02 PM

Which ones are you using Chris

C. J. 09-06-2011 06:08 PM
