Fantastic news. I would LOVE to get my exhaust done there, but will have to see on funds and no doubt they will need some notice. Also, its how safe it is to drive back without the map being tweaked to allow for the decat etc...

Skullfudge 06-11-2011 10:59 PM

Where do you live mate ?

SpecB 07-11-2011 06:09 AM

Hoping to do this one - need to check funds closer to the date though as it's a hell of a way from the coast!

Any chance they'll have time to do a compression/leak down test?

Skullfudge 09-11-2011 12:00 PM

Just been on the phone with Olly Clark and they are aiming to have my P1 ready for collection on 10th Dec :)

Brilliant news mate :10:

I bet you can't wait to get the old girl back.

You have PM :ok:

Skullfudge 09-11-2011 02:03 PM

CJ / Worzel

Yes I will be very glad to get the thing back :)

I've either been driving Hev's Audi or one of the work vans.

A member of the P1Woc even offered to lend me his RA until mine is finished.
The cool thing about that offer is that I have never met the guy ! lol.

SpecB 09-11-2011 06:53 PM

Good news Clive!

Should I contact them re. possibility of a leak down test on the day or are you guys in touch anyway?

Skullfudge 09-11-2011 09:49 PM

leak down test ??

Crowman 09-11-2011 10:38 PM

Excellent stuff Clive, bet you can't wait.
Will be nice to see the beast back out there.

Crowman 09-11-2011 10:40 PM

Nick
Are you talking coolent pressure test .

Skullfudge 10-11-2011 12:22 AM

Nope leak down - kind of a reverse compression test, air is pumped into the bores via the spark plug hole and then the time it takes to leak out recorded, you also get an indication of where it's going (listen for it coming out) so you get an idea of what's buggered! e.g. if it comes out the intake it's the inlet valves, exhaust is exhaust valves and crank breather is piston related.

Skullfudge 10-11-2011 10:02 AM

Huh, I understand what you are saying now :. .. I know what a leak down test is but that was done 2 months ago and the new engine is well on it's way and in hand.

The compression test revealed a - 90% on one chamber so pistons, rods, valves and other bit are being replaced (all the same as their own GS1 apart from my Omega pistons are slightly different to their Omega's as I dont run race fuel.

New crank is required as trust bearing was showing wear.

It will be 2.2 Ltr instead of the 2.0 it was before :)

SpecB 10-11-2011 05:47 PM

Sorry Clive, crossed wires, was thinking of getting them to do one on mine to look at the issues with the oil leak!
