The new Scoob

Well finally after almost 9 long months without a car I managed to find myself a nice WRX STI spec D although it wasn't the car I originally set out to get, it was just to good to pass up. It's only done 40k with 2 previous owners and FSSH and is in great condition, there are a few little things that will need doing for me to get it how I want it, but will be keeping it very close to standard due to it being a limited edition.

Anyway here a couple of pictures after I'd given it a good wash, clay and polish

Plans for it are to replace the exhaust system with something a little louder, fit a front splitter in the next couple of weeks, fit a new set of mud flaps this weekend and the wheels are in being refurbed in a different colour now, that then should be it for a while.

Bolesroor 12-05-2015 07:14 PM

That looks nice :ok:What colour are you planning for the wheels?

Lucky 12-05-2015 07:46 PM

Nice one Matt. Great choice. If it were me id still change the spoiler, either for an sti one or a ra-r lip spoiler, and a front spitter.

40,000 miles. That's a good find.

I've gone for a colour called Ferric Grey, it's a bmw colour on the M sport wheels.

I might change the spoiler at some point Steve if an ra-r 1 came up, but I'm happy with it at the moment.

Yeah I think I was very lucky to find 1 with low miliage, it was 1 of the things that attracted me to the car and it falls into the cheaper tax bracket, so that's a big plus.

Hope so Steve, they are ready today so really looking forward to finding out

Was your old hawk a PPP car btw? How much of the exhaust system did you change?

Scott.T 13-05-2015 11:18 AM

I know a man with the PPP map on a laptop ;)

Good to know  I wanted to change the exhaust system from the 2nd cat, centre resonator and back box, but was unsure if it would bring the engine light on or cause any running issues.

Ginola 13-05-2015 12:19 PM

Looks very tidy dude, nice one!

nikkinokkinoo 13-05-2015 05:13 PM

Very nice indeed - hawkeye is my fav, love the S204 rear spoiler.

No, it wasn't a PPP, but was mapped. Initially I just changed the resonated section for a non res and the back box. This gave the car it's burble back. Later I then went for a complete decat which made it sound awesome but started to get on my nerves day to day so I then changed the afterburner back box to a race box which quieten end it down a bit but it was still nice.

I think if you change the second cat only it'll still bring the light on and at very least need to be checked by someone with laptop and the right gear.

Damn I miss that car :sadnod:

Scott.T 13-05-2015 06:35 PM

The PPP didn't have a 2nd cat just a resonator under the same heatshield.
I don't think the ecu engine light is effected by the 2nd cat removal.
I can compare non and PPP ecu images later tonight though.

Yeah that would be good of mate, thanks  Mine isn't a PPP car so would be interesting to find out

Right well I think I will just get a cat back afterburner system from Scoobyworld and leave it at that for now at least  I might try the Raptor though, not the vortex.

Refurbed wheels now back on

http://i833.photobucket.com/albums/z...ps9eb4ybk8.jpg

A little darker than I'd planned, but I think they suit the car rather well so I'm really pleased

Scott.T 16-05-2015 11:47 AM

How much lower do they make the car, roughly?

See below. IIRC the before pics where on Prodrive Lowered Springs which didn't seem to drop a great deal from OE STi.

It also rode better on the Tein's & Prodrive's. I found the OE STi springs very choppy/moob bouncey ;)
(Teins dropped an extra 14mm front, 20mm rear compared to the Prodrives)

Looks a lot better at the back IMHO.

Hmm yes, those wheels.
They were very nice, Subaru direct fit i.e 5x114 & no spigot rings required. But I never did find out who made them and never seen another car with them.
They are now on SamSTi's car.
