Hi, what's the rough cost of this trip all in?

Hongkongfooi 21-10-2012 10:04 PM

Depending on numbers an upgrade on the ferry for us coming back last time was worth every penny, very relaxing:smile:

I asked this yesterday. The general consenus was between £500-750 mate, £500 being the bare minimum!

Steve_PPP 21-10-2012 10:15 PM

Costs are obviously higher if you drive out on your own and have your own room, if you share with someone or take a partner it roughly halves the cost.

Fuel - £300
Hotel - 4 nights @ ~ 80 euros a night.
Ferry - £60
Laps - 26 euros each i think (this year) or 4 laps for 95 euros ?
Food & Drink - whatever you choose to spend!
European breakdown cover if you don't have it already.

When i go with the wife, we end up spending about £1000 between the two of us, so £500 each.

Just totted that lot up and i'd say that was pretty much spot on Steve. With 8 laps of the ring and approx 140 Euros spending money for your food and drink you won't get much change out of £900 exchange rates depending. That's for one on their own.

Thinking of going then Stu?

Yes mate love too, it's something I'vewanted to do since I found out about it. The ring is the ultimate Mecca for Petrol Heads! You thinking about it too then mate?

Last year with SES was my first year and loved the experience. The area is amazing and truly beautiful with some of the best roads you can imagine. There's car porn wherever you look. I didn't find the food costs too bad and there's a really good value pizza place in Adenau.
I loved it so much that I was back there again in August :-)
I'd wholly recommend it.

Skullfudge 22-10-2012 01:54 PM

I wont be able to make this. Off to Monaco F1 GP that weekend :(

Shame you cant make it mate as you will be missed, still there is always 2014,

I expect you'll have as much fun in Monaco.

That's exactly what everyone says mate, needs to be done. All that will stop me is not being able to get the time off of work which hopefully won't be a problem. Gatebil is another overseas event I'd love to attend....one step at a time though ;-)

Pretty decent compromise though mate. One of, if not the, most glamorous sporting event in the world :-)

TF prices for 2013 have just been released:
http://bridgetogantry.com/2/index.ph...uristenfahrten

Lapticket prices for Nordschleife Touristenfahrten from January 1st, 2013:

1 lap: 26,- € (same price as 2012)
4 laps: 97,- € (€2 more than 2012)
9 laps: 202,- € (€5 more than 2012)
25 laps: 499,- € (€9 more than 2012)

I think thats pretty good actually, considering all thats going on over there at the moment - was expecting them to ramp the prices up to try and cash in!

scotty 24-10-2012 07:10 PM

I could be up for this if I got the money and if I still got a job in the army as my regiment 5scots is getting disbanded next year due to cut backs so I will keep you all informed and let you know nearer the time .

The list at the moment is to gauge interest, nothing can be booked until The Ring calendar is published in January.

Those on the list will obviously have priority with regards to the comfort rooms.

This a brilliant trip, and if you're like me once you've been you'll want to go again and again.

I officially have permission to go now and a co-pilot!

Definitely something to aim for and a bright light at the end of what seems a very long tunnel! :-)

Nice one Tom, you'll be the 3rd owner to take your bug to the Ring! :)

Oh no! I'm going to see my old car passing my new one. Well done mate you will love it:drive:

Tomma 28-10-2012 09:53 AM

Looking forward to it, first time and all that!

Hopefully any passing will be in a straight line facing forwards and not sideways or backwards with a look of terror on my face!

jura11 28-10-2012 04:26 PM

Depends on if we are free, but if we are free,we will go too for sure

Jura

Lucky 28-10-2012 04:37 PM

I'm in, providing I have a scoob by then. I really need to decide what I want. One minute its a classic, the next an 05 Blob STI. :boom: Tho, 05 Blobs appear to be more than early hawks at the moment :-|

Steve_PPP 28-10-2012 04:50 PM

If i were you Lucky, i'd go with the 05 blob. Good classics are becoming very rare now and most of them (even the nice ones) seem to be suffering from rust in the usual places :( (unless you happen to find one which has been looked after like Scotts!).

I've added both you and Jura to the provisional list as TBC in case we have to cap numbers at some point. We'll probably be taking deposits in Jan or Feb.

Hawk all day long Lucky. Buy mine it's a really good car. It went to the Ring a few weeks ago & I would jump initial again tomorow for the same journey. Have a think (much better looking than a blobeye) mines cheap tax to! :drive:

BIG"E" 29-10-2012 03:11 PM

Just a little up date.

I have just received the following letter from Jackie,
after asking her what accommodation is available and what will the prices for next year be.

Hello Ian,
The prices are the same as this year.
78,00 Euros for standard double/twin room per night
88,00 Euros for deluxe double/twin room per night
50,00 Euros for single room per night
I have 3 singles 5 deluxe and 16 standard twin rooms.
Kind regards
Jacqueline

Black_Rat_Boy 29-10-2012 07:05 PM

Once the dates are set, let me know if anyone has a spare space for this trip. I'd love to come along as I've never done the Ring before. There's probably some kind of 'double entendre' in there but it's getting late. You have any room in your motor HongKong?

Hongkongfooi 29-12-2012 09:04 AM

Just had email from dfdss ferries with 20% off prices so that will be £72 return. We have paid less than that though so here hoping for better deals :ok:

Yeah, sure its normally worked out about £55-60 for the return in recent years :)

I will have a chat with Wanda this weekend and try and convince her that its a good idea to go ;) I might struggle as where going to Isle of Man with the sc00b in March...so that will be 2sets of tires and pads then!!
Seeing all the cool snaps last year made me jealous! I don't want to say it but... has anyone ever managed to organise proper insurance for the ring? And if so...could they point me in the general direction.

Dave unless you are a mad man smoking your tyres at every opportunity there is no way you'll do that amount of tyres and pads. Come with us and you'll see it's great! I doubt you will do that many laps of the ring anyway as its expensive
