55 Blob Sti PPP.

Day I bought it, April 2015, very excited, had a v3 before, but got rid of it as it was a dud, and got fed up of fixing it, hopefully the blob will treat me better. Lol

They'd look awesome on the wagon :worthy:

Consti 27-04-2015 05:54 PM

Gggrrrrr, was excited to get home as the missus said my new wheels are here, so opened the box, and it's the wrong colour, anticlimax, they've sent me flat black and not hyper black as ordered.

Rdlangy1 30-04-2015 10:45 AM

 - but nice looking motor, and be good to see it at some of the meets :ok:

Although it might just be me - but like when I had mine painted - I actually like the matt paint look ?!?! Think a scoob would look quite cool in matt, just I aint got the cohona's to do it ! ha ha

Consti 01-05-2015 07:50 AM

Agreed, they say matt is a nightmare to live with as it's hard to keep clean, does look mean though. 👍

Ginola 01-05-2015 10:45 AM

Where abouts did you go to for the paint work Conrad? tempted to get the front blown in on mine (soooo many stone chips and dents!)

First wax on bonnet after paint. http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/...pspiomkvbs.jpg

Steve_PPP 02-05-2015 09:30 AM

There's a lot of posts online about fresh paint being left for 30+ days before its waxed - its to do with the paint curing and solvents not being sealed in.
https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?sourc...%20paint%20job

It might be worth un-doing your good work with a clay bar to try and remove the wax. I'm not a paint expert though, sure some guys on here will know more ;)

Consti 02-05-2015 09:43 AM

Thanks for your advice Steve, will look in to it.

Rookie mistake by me, should've checked, spoke to painter, he's said not to worry it'll be fine, it all depends which type of paint gets used, some set longer than others, some have chemicals that react and hardens very fast, lucky on this one.

Consti 02-05-2015 05:04 PM

It is in chichester yes, was amazed how much effort goes in to tinting, didn't realise.

Steve_PPP 02-05-2015 07:13 PM

What did the tinting cost, and was it just the rear or both back doors too? Need to get just my rear window done as the doors are already have smoked glass in them, need to get it matched up.

That's brilliant mate, but I don't think I have the balls to do it just yet, I'm really **** with paintwork, would love to have them on my car too. Would you be able to assist maybe one day in return for something else?

Ginola 03-05-2015 05:11 PM

Its the sort of thing that takes most of the day to do due to having to bake the bits being painted. you need an accurate temp gauge for your oven (just to make sure its not going to melt the lights as they are pricey!) after that the painting and sanding and painting etc is just a patience game.

I'm sure I could help one day.

You're a gent, thank you, I'm not very good with patience and painting, tried to do a wing once and ended in a mess, so I stay well clear from the more skilled jobs. Lol.

So I've received the replacement wheels today as my order turned up in flat black instead of hyper black, but only 3 instead of 4, so put one on and looks brilliant, sit little bit wide but ok. After a closer inspection I've noticed one wheel looks a lighter colour , swapped them round on different light angles etc but still the same, can you spot the odd one or is it just me????
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/...pse1yvywea.jpg

Rdlangy1 05-05-2015 06:06 PM

Middle one - :ok:

Steve_PPP 05-05-2015 06:43 PM

Middle one looks much lighter in that pic..... wouldn't be happy with that personally. Where are they from? (so I can avoid using them in future! ;))

Ginola 05-05-2015 06:58 PM

Where is the 4th one? Your not planing on converting the scoob to a trike?

The middle one is lighter in That photo I'm guessing 2 different mixes of paint

Consti 05-05-2015 07:17 PM

Exactly what I thought guys, the middle one, parcel force has lost the fourth, maybe it'll turn up pink. Lol. Demon Tweeks. Maybe I should get a Dellboy trotters van. Lol

NL03Scooby 05-05-2015 07:31 PM

Looks like you are not having much luck with buying these wheels, might be worth sending Demon Tweeks some pics and seeing what they have to say, baring in mind they failed you the first time!

Rdlangy1 05-05-2015 07:37 PM

Agree with rob - demon tweeks are big enough to sort out that cock-up! U don't pay ur hard earned money To get 3 wheels not 4 and especially 2nd time round and also one being different shade :ok:

I know guys, really annoyed, this wheel purchase has to last me a long time as I'm no millionaire, really disappointed and fed up, spoke to them over the phone and sent them pictures so we shall see what happens.

Rdlangy1 05-05-2015 07:43 PM

Don't take no crap! :ok:

Consti 05-05-2015 07:51 PM

Won't do mate, opinions guys 18"x9.5 et30 clears brembos fine, but does sit a bit wider than thought. http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/...pspmzxqjnc.jpg

Banstead Stig 05-05-2015 07:57 PM

Looks a bit wide for my tastes, but the style of wheels looks great.

I'd fully expect that Demon Tweaks will see you right. The colour is blatantly off, so given they've only been trial fitted you should be fine.

Rdlangy1 05-05-2015 07:59 PM

I like the wide look - gives some width to the scoob :ok: - just my two pence worth

alfa male 05-05-2015 08:02 PM

Nice wheels but unfortunately I do not like the stretched look.

NL03Scooby 05-05-2015 08:05 PM

Like the wider stance but feel the wheels need to be higher in the arches to give it that real mean look, that starts to going in to 'tyre meets arch' territory though and doesn't necessarily make for a nice driving scoob, more a nice looking one! Depends what you are after I guess! 😀

Consti 05-05-2015 08:14 PM

55 Blob Sti PPP.

Initially I didn't want the wheel to sit wider than the arch, which ment going for a narrower wheel and bigger offset which will lose the deep concave, which I like, so had to go for these in the end, they're sitting a bit wider than expected. I'll give them a chance and see how I get on. The 9,5" rims also gives me the opportunity to go with 265's one day and bolt on arches if I wanted to. 225's stretched at the moment to help clear arches. Hence my decision to go with the current setup, really wanted best of both worlds but can't. 👍
