Insurance claim advice

Hi all,
Can’t believe my luck recently, bought an import sti direct from Japan, waited months for it to arrive and when it did it wasn’t in the condition stated, so set about getting it right and after a fair few grand later and a lot of help from a very good Subaru specialist I got the car back running lovely, three days later an idiot pulled out in front of me and Subaru came off the worst. Questions are.
1) there is damage to inner wing will they replace this as insurance company thinking of repairing it?
2) if they repair it can I get back any of the cash I will lose as it will be worth half value once on v car
3) can I refuse to have it back once repaired?

Many thanks in advance

Chris

If the inner wing has damage I would mostly likely think you won’t Be getting it back other than option to buy back And source repair yourself

It's tricky to really give an answer without knowing what the car is and its potential value.

"Import STi" covers quite a broad spectrum of cars.

However, you would expect to suffer on resale if the damage is significant and it is registered as whatever the new Cat C/D is. Your insurers won't reimburse you for that.

Sorry
It’s a 2003 blobeye sti with 60,000 miles, very clean car

Potentially strong enough value to be repairable then.

I think you are going to be a bit unlucky when it comes to resale... but you can avoid that by looking after it and keeping it until that makes no odds. :ok:

Will depend on what the insurance value it at . Unless you have an agreed value with them.
You won’t get any cash back if it’s repaired. Best option is to take the money if it’s a decent offer then buy the car back repair yourself

On a side note who did you get the car through

depends on exact damage, inner wing itself is not structural but if its moved the chassis leg then that would be far more major........

word of advice if its a claim against a third party then do NOT allow them to take possession of the vehicle until YOU are totally happy with whatever direction you are aiming in.........

its YOUR car and you can choose what ever you wish regardless of what they try and suggest
