AndyWRX 15-11-2009 10:52 AM

looks good mate :10:

Crowman 15-11-2009 02:04 PM

Very nice mate, good mods and good power, what size injectors are you running?

Justin 15-11-2009 10:54 PM

Cheers all

Crowman I am running Nismo 740's, highest I've seen is 85% IDC, I think power is up a bit in this cold weather, maxxing the MAF regularly now wheras during mapping it wasn't a problem

Justin 05-07-2010 05:09 PM

Ok thought I'd update this a bit

I have been sprinting it this season, but over the winter the NSR shock started leaking, so I had the AST suspension rebuilt and all shocks uprated to the latest spec. I also upped the spring rates too.

Then I added a pair of Morrette headlights, modified so that the inner lights are removed and blanked off - but the blank can be removed for a direct cold air feed to the air filter when sprinting. I don't like the look and prefer OE but its a case of function over form

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a80.../08052010a.jpg

I have been sprinting in the Grudgement days championship and have been doing well, on the back of this I have been selected for the TOTB team. So the car is soon to retire from its daily duties and in preparation for TOTB I am

Removing air con
Removing OE seats and replacing with FIA approved competition seats
Fitting swirlpot
Mapping for E85 mix

I've got a month to do this. On the back of this I have got sponsorship from AST UK so the car is in the bodyshop next week to get the arches and sills seen to so that the car looks the part for its new decals :)

Chunk 05-07-2010 05:48 PM

Nice one mate

Could always spray the black lights to white?

Justin 05-07-2010 10:16 PM

I thought of that but IMO I've seen that before on prefacelifts and it never looks right either. At least with black and black grill the 'gaps' from the facelift lights kind of blend in. I've convinced myself if you squint a bit it looks the same style as the new Sciroccos, lol

Chunk 06-07-2010 09:07 AM

I had the smaller black morrette style ones with a black grill when mine was facelifted, but didnt like the look of it in the end.

But as you say, yours isn't really going to be a road car

RobEvo5 06-07-2010 10:35 AM

Very nice spec. Should be some more power and torque in the old girl as well with a few little tweaks to breathing and map.

Tyler 06-07-2010 01:02 PM

Very very nice matey..

AndyWRX 06-07-2010 02:20 PM

comming along nicely mate, gotta love the ra's

Justin 22-07-2010 04:38 PM

Ok, nearly there

Car has been in for paint and is looking much better, rusty sills and arches sorted.

As well as AST suspension I have some other sponsors too, ASPerformance and a certain Jolly mapper, so decals have been designed and hopefully will be done next week.

Race seats installed, aircon gone but will not be fitting swirlpot due to the car still having daily duties, so not happy having swirlpot in boot with kids in car with no time to properly firewall it.

So all thats left to do is fit decals, remap and take out rear seats and fit harnesses, but the seats can't come out until the Friday before the event!

worzel 22-07-2010 05:52 PM

Looking forward to seeing the pics mate, it sounds cracking!

Crowman 22-07-2010 08:11 PM

Cracking car, looking forward to finished pics.

Jolly Green Monster 22-07-2010 09:01 PM

Awesome, see you monday!

Chunk 23-07-2010 08:53 AM

Nice one. Just need some pics

Justin 26-07-2010 11:57 PM

The sticker guy is sending me something through tomorrow, but I may have to change it since I have just picked up another sponsor!! I'm on quite a roll ATM, but more imprtantly mapping went well today despite E85 only being available for another 7 days, so went 20% meth instead, all good but the clutch wasn't happy about it, unfortunately Exedy aren't one of my sponsors, lol

Justin 01-08-2010 08:16 AM

C.J's clutch fitted, pedal is stiffer and biting point snappier, to be expected so I've got a week to adapt my launches. Stickers being fitted Wednesday, photos to follow!

Justin 04-08-2010 09:21 PM

Sponsorship stickers on, I must say Ant ay Vinyl Matters is a top bloke - attention to detail speaks for itself

Looking great Justin

I cant even get in there from the main road

Dave Beck 04-08-2010 09:26 PM

Looks great mate. Ant is really good. Got my roof done there

Steve_PPP 04-08-2010 09:40 PM

like that :ok:

not generally a fan of graphics high up on the car or on bonnets etc, but that pretty good

Justin 04-08-2010 10:37 PM

Thanks all. I wanted something that if I'm behind or ahead of someone on the road then you can't see it - so not influencing driving habits or driver perceptions, but when competing or static at a meet then spectators are attracted to and can see the sponsors

worzel 05-08-2010 09:11 AM

Liking that mate a lot. Good job :ok:

Crowman 05-08-2010 09:50 AM

Yep agree, like it alot. The car still looks mainly standard, until you get close:10:

Justin 05-08-2010 10:12 AM

Cheers

Here's another pic I took today

AndyWRX 05-08-2010 03:03 PM

Looks really good mate, the graphics really suit it :-)

Justin 07-12-2010 11:27 PM

Thought I'd up date this..

At TOTB I came 13th out of 100 on the handling - 3rd fastest subaru out of 25 entered so very happy with how the day went.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a80.../IMG_0542a.jpg

After that I tested Andy Forrest's billet 20g, it was a brand new design of compressor wheel so we didn't know how it would get on..

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a80...aru/HP_TRQ.jpg

It got on well so I kept it!

Blue trace is on a 20% meth mix, red trace on VPower which made 406HP.

Time has come for the car to be relieved of its daily duties, so now I can focus on getting the car lighter for the next season, I also have to decide now what events to compete in - I am currently trying to get my head around deciphering the MSA blue book so that I can compete in hillclimbs.

To do list over winter is:

Fit roll cage
Fit swirl pot
Fit newage coil packs to finally sort the misfire issue
Remove sound deadening.
If funds allow I may treat the 15 year old suspension to some new bushes :)

I have bought an old Toyota Landcruiser to do the school run which has been fantastic in this weather - it will also be the tow car too

Aladdin 05-01-2011 09:07 PM

Amazing look & amazing spec.

midlife2 05-01-2011 10:22 PM

Very nice, strange how we have ended up with near enough the same car except i went with a MD321 turbo.

gtiteen 05-01-2011 10:28 PM

Very nice, not my style but must be cracking to drive and a serious machine! As you say though its more race than road car.

Best of luck in all the hillclimbs/totb/sprinting

Justin 10-01-2011 10:37 PM

Thanks for all the comments :)

Unfortunately not much to add since the car is still a daily driver due to unforseen events with our other car, but I will be sprinting this year in the road going production class, MSA rules state full working interior so theres not much I can strip out of it, only sound deadening and carpets. No need for roll cage so budget can stretch to polybushing the car.

I now have a garage that took me and my mate a few months to build, so these cold dark nights will be spent chipping away at the sound deadening, not looking forward to that much!

Just looking at the top pics and the engine bay is out of date - I have a larger MAF tube to cope with the increased airflow of the 20g (the previous setup was being maxxed at 380HP) and the aircon is gone now
