Looking for a new spanner home in the South East

Hi gents,

New owner here. Based in the Horsham area and looking for a local recommendation for taking care of the car. Bought the car off a member of the forum. Have come from Evos, so have plunged directly into the deep end but am very happy with the car so far.

Car is an 08 WRX STi with a fully forged engine running a modest 360BHP. Lots of receipts and service invoices. Picked up the car today and eager to get it checked over by a specialist and serviced ready for Spring.

Am willing to travel, but would prefer to keep things local if possible.

Look forward to meeting some of you:thanx:

Hello from another Horsham Scooby owner.

Richard at FB Tuning in Princess Risborough is well recommended or Brent at SMD, I think down Brighton way, hopefully someone can confirm.

I tend to do servicing myself, and for bigger jobs usually rope in a few local members or a mate at Owen Garages in Haywards Heath.

I like this one looked around it a few times Its is very clean and looks good. I was never a fan of them til he brought this one to a couple of meets and see one up close changed my mind.

Thanks gents. I’ll give SMD a shout and get it booked in.

Likewise. This is my first Subaru having owned an Evo 8 MR FQ340, and I’ve never looked at hatches before. The car came up on eBay and having already made my mind up on a DC5 my mind was swiftly changed after going to look at it.

It feels good to finally try a flat four, really enjoying the car so far and feels really strong and punchy for “only” 350BHP. No immediate plans but very tempted to get a little more out of it all being well.

Another vote for Brent at SMD. Fastidious about his work. I even travel from France to have him look after my STi.

Thanks guys, have given him a call and booked in for 24th.

Is there a recommended oil grade for a forged 2.5? Trying to get hold of Cotton Competition to find out as they built the car.

I ran 10w50 in mine - give Alyn a bell at ASPerformance.

Thanks. Cotton Competition who built the engine recommended 10w60.

sorry but any conversation of that sort has either been misinterpreted or simply wrongly passed on........

we would NOT have recommended 5w30 for any Impreza
its very subjective depending on exact use, spec, etc so would suggest you contact the office direct for specific use 0191-4103770

Sorry, I will remove the post as it is clearly hearsay and I apologise. However, on first thought, I imagined it was simply a case of him not specifying the engine was forged. Albeit, I'm not sure why he would have lied in that case - but we'll leave it there. Chinese whispers!
