Starting car after sitting a while
When you get the cars out after winter break do you just fire them up and let them run or should you pull somthing out so you just turn the engine over to get oil around before starting it up. Just wondering as there will be no oil up the top and do t no if that will damage it or not.

I think it’s best to disconnect coils and turn over u til oil light gone out.
But to be honest i just start them up leave them to warm up. Ginola may comment as he is a perfectionist, even stores his tyres in doors!!! |
Easiest fix is to unplug the crank sensor from the top of the engine (under alternator iirc) easy access and will crank engine without spark wait for oil light to go out then reconnect and start.

but will this not put up a cel light that will have to be deleted? |
I haven't started the scoob since the brekkie meet on 24th November... this thread has reminded me its probably due a run.... :?
|
it does bring the CEL on initially on the new-age & newer cars but after a few cycles of starting it will simply re-set (code will be stored but has no affect)

i actually ended up with The Syvec ECU setup with a delayed start to allow oil pressure to build before it started as I used the car so rarely.
