Simtek ecu

Two questions....

Does anybody know how I would go about getting the update on my simtek ECU, it's sitting in my car doing nothing so as advised it makes sense to get the upgrade for future use or if I sell it

Secondly, has anyone got any opinions or knowledge on the new simtek/Alcatek vs the syvecs ecu, I know a few people on here run syvecs so would be interested in opinions

Ultimately want to decide on whether to go with the upgraded simtek or go for a syvecs

Cheers

Jgm fitted the Simtek so guess he will be the man who knows

Tom personally I would go with Syvecs, just due better support from manufacturer(AlcaTek is one man band and get hold of him is big problem sometimes),support forum, datalogging free,NOS control free,no extra controllers for wideband and EGT.You can map yourself for free, without the buying expensive cable(via simple RJ45 broadband cable),full CANbus support(SimTek/AlcaTek don't have CANbus)

Syvecs take care almost on everything on your car,you will be limited just inputs(if you want more S8 will be mine choice,we are thinking personally about the S8,just we are maxxed our inputs),which should be no problem TimH@JTi working on extender with more inputs/outputs

I would upgrade SimTek and sold him as upgraded and bought Syvecs, just due reason above

If you will be looking track car and take car on the drag strip, datalogging will be very useful for you and you can monitor everything what you are want(all depends on sensors which you have fitted etc)

Speak to Charlie@SRR about the Syvecs or Simon@JGM,Neil@Slowboy racing or any other mapper and ask them why every mapper who is dealer of SimTek have rather fitted on their cars Syvecs than SimTek

Thanks Jura, just read your post on scoobynet and martynjeffery's on 22b, I spoke to Neil today and will at the very least get the upgrade for simtek, I can then decide whether to sell simtek or go for syvecs once car is ready.... Will look at toucan too as it seems this can be used with both syvecs and Alcatek now

That's the best options get upgrade and after all decide what will be best,if car will be ready you are most welcome to try and have finer look on Syvecs GUI etc.

Toucan is great thing just due you will not need gauges,we are running still gauge for boost,NOS,but now Dash working as should,we will ditch all gauges and we will run only Dash and Toucan

As I said on SN,for EGT or Wideband you will need controllers at least £100 each, which support RS-232(serial port) ,on Syvecs you don't need controllers.

We are never looking back on any other ECU(yes now when we are maxxed inputs,S8 is only option)

If toucan eliminates need for gauges then that would be good although I do like the look of defi gauges :-)

I've seen the toucan in your car, will be good to see it working with syvecs once your build is finished:ok:

i am just waiting for the queue for the updates to pass before getting it sorted with the Toucan screen and binning the gauges.

Its also a question of cost, syvecs is about 1500 new, alcatek and toucan upadte is about 400 + mapping

Toucan is available for the new Alcatek........

Anger 04-10-2012 12:08 PM

Cheers, Will drop Simon an email

Hope the wait isn't horrendously long, I was joking with the Christmas 2013 deadline!

Granby 05-10-2012 01:25 AM

Does simtek have knock control yet?

C. J. 05-10-2012 06:08 AM

I believe so

asperformance 05-10-2012 08:40 AM

the new ALCATEK has closed loop knock control, closed loop lambda, closed loopo idle, in-gear boost control, etc., etc............

have to say i have been massively impressed with the newest boards

Jolly Green Monster 06-10-2012 12:04 AM

Jolly Green Monster 19-05-2013 03:38 PM

Year 2000 or uk 2000?

Jolly Green Monster 19-05-2013 03:38 PM

Year 2000 sorry

Jolly Green Monster 19-05-2013 03:47 PM

Ecutek remap of standard ecu or any after market ecu such as alcatek etc depending on budget

ajelliott 19-05-2013 03:51 PM

Im not sure if the previous owner has changed the ecu how can I check (if I can) and what price will I be looking at and do I come to you?

Jolly Green Monster 19-05-2013 03:53 PM

Www.jollygreenmonster.co.uk. Prices include dyno time at surrey rr or travel to you and road mapping.

Most likely on standard ecu, you would know if changed.

ajelliott 19-05-2013 04:41 PM

So im looking at 550?

Jolly Green Monster 19-05-2013 04:42 PM

Plus vat yes
