You know that there can't be a budget but what ones you know are for sale C.J and price wouldn't mind a nice strong STI v8 long engine just incase my heads are gubbed .

I didn't even know there was a South London Scoobies ^^^

C. J. 27-05-2015 05:41 PM

It's a £7k engine if you build it yourself

BIG"E" 27-05-2015 07:44 PM

Good luck Scotty in finding a suitable replacement engine.

glad you got home ok.:five:

Cheers Ian going to pop down and see a Mr Steve Whiteson of SW Motorsport as I know I can't go wrong with him building a replacement engine just means beans and toast for the rest of the year lol .

alfa male 27-05-2015 09:00 PM

All the best on your future plans Scotty.

Ginola 27-05-2015 09:20 PM

Glad you both finally got home and happy to see she will breathe again! keep us posted dude.

Banstead Stig 27-05-2015 09:27 PM

Sorry to see this Scotty.

Great to see you're going to crack on and sort it. It's a really nice looking example, so deserves to live on.

Best of luck with it.

scotty 27-05-2015 09:39 PM

To be honest I don't care about costs it's the effort I have put in her to get her to this stage I'm not letting it go this time so I will be up dating with what is going on in my project thread .

SpecB 28-05-2015 05:02 AM

That looks suspiciously like the car park I ended up like this in....

Well that just proves the known fact that Subaru's can't handle high speed/sustained high speed abuse. Hence why I always keep it below 110mph on that stretch.
Worzels done the same but on the other side of the road.

Red Baron 28-05-2015 07:47 AM

I know a good starting point.

Steve_PPP 28-05-2015 09:14 AM

It wasn't the same car park Nick, it was about 5 miles further up the road (towards Belgium).

But echo what Scott says, they don't like continued high speed runs. I did a couple of 140mph fly-bys but kept things down under 100 most of the time.

I got one run at 140mph won't be doing that again for a while lol .

Anger 28-05-2015 11:55 AM

Same with the P1 that let go with me and Nige the other year, did warn him that they don't like it compared to my Evo I was in

scotty 28-05-2015 02:27 PM

I can get a STI 03 plate long engine which had a rebuild by API 11k ago when it had just done 74k and also a STI 05 plate long engine with 76k I know I can't use my inlet mani but is there a lot involved when fitting it with new age mani into my classic .

Red Baron 28-05-2015 02:34 PM

Surely you'll only want a short engine as unless your going for something like a Syvecs you won't be able to utilise the AVCS heads.

You can with Alcatek .

scotty 29-05-2015 09:53 AM

How much do you think AVCS heads are worth peeps as I won't be needing them as I will confirm over the weekend once spoke to Steve and Matty .

C. J. 29-05-2015 10:07 AM

About 300 too 500 on spool

For the time , effort and money Id not bother . Just buy a newage sti bottom end and stick your heads on with Cosworth stopper gaskets and some updated head studs .

+1

scotty 29-05-2015 10:28 AM

That's the plan C.J but can only find sti long engine at the moment with low mileage and it's been rebuilt .

C. J. 29-05-2015 10:30 AM

Buy the long engine and sell the heads for two reasons
1. You may make a little
2. The engine won't of been left open with the possibility of crap getting in

Cheers C.J well I'm just off the phone to Scott at Scoobyspares he's got a JDM sti bug coming in next week with uber low mileage he's going to do all the pressure tests and let me know that's a stroke of luck .

C. J. 29-05-2015 10:38 AM

Keep as a long engine and a very tasty price delivered got my name all over it . Better order some APR/ cosworth head bolt kit and head gaskets soon .

drakesnow 31-05-2015 02:45 PM

My Type R is based on CJ's suggestion and Dave's + 1.

JDM STI V7 bottom end. Rock solid. With plenty of 140 + pulls ; ).

scotty 01-06-2015 04:33 PM

It can take several weeks before its recovered to the UK :(

SpecB 01-06-2015 07:07 PM

Mine took 2 and a half

Steve_PPP 01-06-2015 07:32 PM

I guess they wait until they've got enough to fill a whole transporter and then send them over in one go....

That means loosing valuable prepping time for next years trip .

555_Si 02-06-2015 05:14 AM

No, only takes a week or two to prep for trip, only reason the classic didn't come this year is I couldn't decide what wheels to put on it............... Honest.
