Something a bit different - Gurney flap
Have been thinking of doing this for a while now, and after seeing Frayz's last week thought i'd do it.
Basically it is a rear spoiler for a E46 3 series BMW fitted to the rear edge of the STI spoiler. A few guys from the States have fitted these and swear by them.... only seen one on a UK car (Frayz) Jury is still out. Looks good on a black car, not sure if it suits a silver one or not. If it's good enough for a RS500 is's good enough for me! If i decide i don't like it then it'll come off easily enough. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ps47eeaf2b.jpg |
i've thought of one of those but i think its an e39 M5 one that fits better?:-?
The place i got it from can cut to any length.... i've either measured wrong or they have cut it short
I was thinking of one of these, infact have been for years as JimWRX fitted one of his Spec-C many years ago.
Where did you get it from and how much Gary, as I may have to go measure up...... |
Quite like that.

I know the Spec C is dead
Not sure on that Gary... Maybe need to see it |
Just measured it and it's 3cm too short, will get them to send me the correct length this week and re-fit
looks cool :ok:
Like it, nice touch. Will look even better longer and tucked into the corners. maybe colour coded? But then black gives it an edge.
Coloured coded would work well
Any pics of how it looks from behind the car? |
I like that Gary. Think I'd spray it if I get one.
Fitted the longer one today.
Still a bit Marmite, but will leave it on there.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...psbd2a98a5.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...psc3e51298.jpg |
Do like the name "gurney flap." Reminds me of my bottom lip about ten years ago... in the party days..8-)
Does look better now its the correct length! Still thinking colour coded or carbon wrapped/dipped?
A guy on Scoobynet is going to make them in carbon, and make them fit flush with the spoiler at the ends.
This will only be on there untill he gets those sorted |
