Classic Sports Car Club R5 - Brands Hatch

Got offered a last minute ticket for this event as a friend of mine was racing, so popped down to Brands to watch.

Didn't intend to take pictures of anyone other than my mate, but there were some lovely classics out on track, so I couldn't help myself...

Pretty much all the classics you see in this post were from the "Saloon & Modsport Championship". Never heard of it before, but I really want to see more as there were some beautifully prepared classic cars in the class.

My mate was racing a G55 in the "New Millenium" category. The vast majority of cars in the class were M3's, but there was also a GT3 Porsche and Lotus Evora.

Yes, that's a Morris Minor!

After a chasing M3 crashed and the GT3 Porsche retired my mate went on to take the win. Having won two rounds in a row now, he will have a 1 minute penalty the next time he is out, so unlikely he can make it three in a row!

Sorry, not much variety in the shots, but there aren't many spots without high fencing on the short circuit (and it was too hot to look for any new ones!). Few more pictures here:

If anyone is interested!

Love the Escorts, do you know what engines they run?

The Firenza , is it a Baby Bertha look alike?

I didn't see under the bonnet of all of them, but there was a mixture of Pinto and BDT engines in those I looked at. The most impressive engine of the day had to be the Morris Minor: it was running a V8!

As far as I am aware it was the original Baby Bertha. They spoke about it on the commentary a few times and said it was on loan from the owner who has restored it. Sounded great powering out of Druids!

Excellent photos. Thanks for sharing. Pin sharp pan shots are something I have never mastered ! Can I ask , are they straight out the camera or Are you post processing and cropping ?

I crop, but I am personally not a fan of heavy post processing. I have tried to get better with the camera rather than relying on software to fix pictures (I accept that is perhaps a blinkered view!).

I do use Photoshop to add watermarks and, truth be told, I would like to better understand what else I could do with it. For the last couple of years I have said I would use the off-season to sit down and get my head around it: but I still haven't round to it!
