Hi all, new P1 owner
Hi all,
Just joined up after picking up a 2000 P1 yesterday after a long look! Looking forward to getting to know the car. First challenge is to sort either a dodgy oil temp sender or work out why the oil runs at 130+! Cheers |
Hello and welcome to SES, have you any pics of the car?
Hope you get to issue sorted, I can't imagine any normal driving would have the oil temp that high so sounds like the reading is kaput! |
Thanks 😊
Let's see if Google pics link works.... It seems to have had a good service history and a recent change. But it was bought knowing a rebuild could be needed so once the sensor is checked will see who is best to look at it. Any recommendations appreciated. https://goo.gl/photos/9vuwreC4U4heGAB36 |
That link worked, car looks good.
There is a wealth of knowledge and advice on the forum, a few folks who currently or have had P1's will know plenty on your particular model. For posting pics most use Photobucket, the pictures are visible on the forum for all too see, it takes a bit of getting used too but hopefully the link below will help. http://www.southeastscoobies.co.uk/v...ead.php?t=5722 |
Cheers. Will get back to using photo bucket. Had a few years off forums so just remembering passwords!

Welcome
Looks a very clean P1, paint looks spot on. Hopefully there's no engine issue lurking and you've got yourself a good one. Oil is never going to run at 130c+ in normal conditions, and it if did i suspect you would be able to tell by sniffing it! |
How do :)

very nice indeed what sort of millege is it on??
|
Looks very nice :welcome: to SES :five:

Welcome from an ex- 2 times P1 owner looks a very nice example you have there
|
Thanks all. Car is on 110k but the condition is more like something with half that. The oil doesn't smell at all and doesn't feel that hot either so I am pretty certain it is a faulty sensor.
Looking forward to getting involved with things here. |
Car looks nice. Welcome to SES
