Yes but not yet.

Nothing is definite until the dates are published.:five:

scotty 02-01-2014 07:45 AM

Cheers BIG"E" not putting my self down until my car is fixed and ready to go as got a lot of work to be done on it .

midlife2 02-01-2014 12:23 PM

To those of you that have done this before, how much are you looking at cost wise roughly for the whole trip inclusive.

Lifted from one of Steve PPPs post from last year

Costs are obviously higher if you drive out on your own and have your own room, if you share with someone or take a partner it roughly halves the cost.

Fuel - £300
Hotel - 4 nights @ ~ 80 euros a night.
Ferry - £60
Laps - 26 euros each i think (this year) or 4 laps for 95 euros ?
Food & Drink - whatever you choose to spend!
European breakdown cover if you don't have it already.

When i go with the wife, we end up spending about £1000 between the two of us, so £500 each.

This was a good guide for us newbies LY :ok:

555_Si 02-01-2014 04:14 PM

i'd say that is pretty accurate overall as we spent about that.

my lead up to the trip with car wasn't so cheap lol.

Already started work on the Golf to take this year.

You have 141 DAYS TO GO !!!

To get things sorted... :ok::ok:

555_Si 02-01-2014 04:31 PM

^ I had a mad rush doing my car last year, as i really wanted to make it a nice track day car. I was still finishing it the night before putting different ARB's and exhaust on.

Hard work but worth it.

Just doen the build list for the Golf and surprised myself at how big the list is.

C. J. 02-01-2014 05:07 PM

The list can be as long or as short as you want to make it ;)

scotty 02-01-2014 05:10 PM

Finger is on the pulse going to RA MOTORSPORTS development tomorrow morning with car to get a quote for what needs done and also found out that Andy Forrest goes there 2 times a month to map customers cars that will do me nicely closer to home for me .

Fingers crossed then..

scotty 02-01-2014 05:56 PM

I'm not going to do a list as I will be here all night but I know what needs done lol

SpecB 02-01-2014 07:33 PM

We're giving it a miss this year I'm afraid - the lost day and overnight trip last year due to work really reduced the value for money for us! Have a good one though guys!

ScoobyStu 02-01-2014 10:10 PM

Depends on the confirmed date for me.....

Pretty much as called by others above, and Steve's post from previous years,

Last year, I think we spent aprox 1k on the trip itself, but as others have also stated, spent a fair wack making sure the car was ready, (brakes, tyres, oil change and alignment etc.)--

This year I think it will be pads/tires/oil cooler.. ;)

Worth every penny though an experience every petrol head should accomplish at least once in my humble opinion.:drive::drive:

The suspense does add to the excitement a little though. Think I'd rather know still having said that!

Spocks Beard 08-01-2014 05:42 PM

There are some "guide" dates already released, but not the official ones yet. Which is annoying.

They can be found here - http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/calendar.php#.Us2NlPmGp8E

They usually do the official dates over the Christmas holiday, so it's unusually late this year

You right it is very annoying, just dangling around waiting.

The dates last year were not published until 16/01/13, hope fully they will be out very soon.

The official dates are here: http://www.nuerburgring.de/angebote/...dschleife.html

BIG"E" 09-01-2014 05:35 PM

Yes the dates are out !!!!!

23/05/2014 (Fri) 17:15-19:30

24/05/2014 (Sat) 17:30-19:00

25/05/2014 (Sun) 08:00-19:00

26/05/2014 (Mon) 17:15-19:30

Things are looking good, with the approximately the same amount of time available on The Ring as previous years ...

Happy Days 19 weeks to go

555_Si 09-01-2014 06:01 PM

Ok I must get golf built sooner rather than later. I am not doing another mad rush like last year!

Is Saturday an evening only session?

BIG"E" 09-01-2014 06:07 PM

Now the dates have been released we can now get things booked.

Please add your names to the above list if you would like to join the,

Yes, in the past years the Ring has been a 13:30 start.

This year they have an event on during the day:

SPECTACULAR RACING ACTION AND ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY.
Free admission at the Nordschleife
The Circuit Racing Challenge Nürburgring ADAC eV is the oldest and most consistent touring car racing series in Europe and makes popular sport into an experience for the whole family.
When it comes to GLP every hundredth of a second. The aim is to circumnavigate the Nürburgring Nordschleife at steady as possible lap times. Who will reach the least variation wins.

So something interesting for those that wish to spectate.. :ok:

555_Si 09-01-2014 06:39 PM

Sounds good.

Hongkongfooi 09-01-2014 07:42 PM

Not going this year but that adac race would be good to see:ok:

Nice one scotty..

When we use the ferry, it is DFDS. Dover/Dunkirk 08.00.

or last year we used the EuroTunnel.

This something we need to discus ??

What do the majority wish to use??

555_Si 10-01-2014 08:00 AM

Tunnel was good last year, I do have clearance issues on the golf.

Red Baron 10-01-2014 08:13 AM

Well I've been saving my Tesco clubcard vouchers for use on the tunnel but I'll go with the majority.

Shane

Same as........
Much prefer tunnel on way back so may split travel.

Bolesroor 10-01-2014 10:13 AM

Tunnel would be our choice but will go with the majority :ok:

Red Baron 10-01-2014 10:17 AM

Works out a bit more expensive splitting it.

Ferry £94 Return
Tunnel £102 Return (£34 with Clubcard Vouchers)
Ferry Out £41, Tunnel Back £75 = £116 Return (£66 with Clubcard Vouchers

These are non flexible tickets.

Shane

scotty 10-01-2014 03:30 PM

I am easy as long as we get there and back . We can always do half and half .

Shane with DFDS the fare is £90 return or £45 single ..

Euro tunnel is as you say £75..single (return journey)

or £102 return on the train..
