I used tiger-seal but I have been told that its a nightmare to get off once its set

worzel 30-06-2011 12:21 PM

I would always say, nuts, bolts and washers mate.

Would love to do that Worzel but the problem is that there are no fitting kits for the P1 splitter as i was told that they are glued on... :(

Bolted my last one..... Was genuine so was a bloody good fit allround managed to hide a couple of bolts I'n each wheel arch :-)Plus wanted it to be a bit harder to remove if any little hood rats took a liking to it:fight:

Anger 30-06-2011 06:51 PM

Guess its a **** copy if it dosnt even have fixings

majorscooby 30-06-2011 07:36 PM

Take bumper off and drill and fix with some nice stainless steel fixings! ;-)

Thinking about getting a splitter for mine and I don't know I would feel too confident about keeping it with glue alone. I would always suggest bolting it on if at all possible, otherwise make damn sure it is well glued!

If it I's a **** one(cheaper version) sealant maybe ok if it's strong... As the cheap ones usually weigh alot less than genuines:doubleup:

Mine is an original one James, i spoke to Subaru and they advised that there is no fitting kit for them as i was advised theat the originals are glued on..

Mine only had glue and all prep kit with from new no brackets either mate... Made my own descret holes for screws and binned the glue off :-)

If it's a genuine P1 splitter mate you will have this stamp in the centre of the splitter

http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i3...556188_n-1.jpg

and this stamp adjacent to the towing eye

If you cant see both stamps, it's not a genuine P1 splitter.

As mentioned by Worzel bolts are better than glue.

I have grounded out many times in car parks etc and we have fabricated 4 brackets.
It's rock solid now and never moves when scraping the underside on the odd occasion.

I have the first stamp deffinatley, have not looked for the second one. How many places has yours been secured at Clive??
