What is the widest wheels you can go for

What is the widest wheels you can go for on a classic, i need to get a new set of wheels on the Scoob to fit over my brembos and want to know what is the widest i can go... would 8.5 j fit without wider arches, or does it also have something to do with the ET aswell.. And i dont have coilovers...

Pictures on wheels also would be great help.. Or any info on past or present experience..

I have cut back my rear arches already so they can handle a little wider then normal....

Cheers Chris i forgot about that, i came to yours and you showed me them last time didnt you... Do they rub at all, i ideally want to get a set of 18's..

You can do 8x18 with an ET50 or ET51, a bit touch'n'go as to whether they will rub or not. My 8x18 ET51 were OK unless it had weight in the back and the car went over a large bump/dip.

Depends on suspension and tyre choice (some tryres are wider then other despite being the same size markings)

Cheers buddy... Can i ask a silly question.. Is ET the size from the hub to the outer part of the wheel.. If that makes sense..
