F1 Changes
Did I read this right.
Flicking through today's newspaper, F1looking to reduce engine size down to 1.6l V6 hybrid , the electric motor to be used in the pits. Please tell me this won't happen. Eclestone is completely against it |
if its true, another decade n they're gonna end up going round Silverstone on Sinclair C5's

Society feel that the vast sums of money invested in F1 should now start to reflect on the planets fossil fuel situation.
They were going to be 4 cylinder until Ferrari kicked up that small engines will not relate to Ferrari road cars so they changed the rules to a V6. Not sure on the exact details but I believe the engines should be something within 80% of the 2011 power figures but use 30% less fuel. This is going to be increased to 50% less fuel by the year 2015. F1's best days have been and gone. We will never see the likes of the mid 80's to early 90's beasts again. I remember when Gerhard Bergers Benetton was running at 1500 Bhp in qualifying trim :( |

PMSL you wont be far wrong ! |
They are bringing in 1600cc turbo charged engines for 2013. They will still develop 700 plus bhp and will be lighter than they are now so no real performance disadvantage, but better on fuel etc. As for hybrid etc... not heard that!.

So true Clive.
I had the pleasure of a front row seat at the 1986 British GP at brands when Mansel won a fantastic race. Also remember when Mansel said in an interview that year that during qualifying in Japan he was getting major wheel spin in 5th down the main straight at 180 odd mph. Stunning |

I was also there at Brands in 86 at Paddock Hill Bend. What a great day that was ! If I remember right Mansell & Piquet where the only two cars on the same lap ? |
Yes mate, they changed places a few times in last few laps. So loud when Mansel took the lead. Those days are long gone, such a shame

"Electric" F1 will be very interesting,no noise just silent noise...
Will be strange and i'm against Jura |

Turbo was a bit laggy! The engine is on display at the museum at nurburgring f1 circuit.
I doubt the new rules will allow power of that level though, shame! |
