ive just brought my first subaru its a 1994 wrx classic, the car is totaly standard bar a horribe backbox!!
Im now wanting to unleash a few more horses from under the bonnet ;) and was just wanting advice on the best/safest ways to do this as im new to jap cars.
Im looking for around the 300bhp mark any advice please people.

.

decent exhaust system like a afterburner vortex, bell mouth decat down pipe. would nt worry bout air filter as the standard box is good for 280-300 bhp . maybe a panel filter. look in to mapping as well but im unsure as to the capabilities on a 94 but im sure there will be guys tht will know .. but also look at poss upgrading pads etc as you want to stop as well!!!

cheers yea im thinking of upgrading to 4 pots as the brakes on it at the moment are not the best ive also been told that i can stick a z4 ecu off a later wrx in there witch will give me 20bhp more just by plugging it in is this correct?

good thread Ant. I'll be watching this one. i also want a safe reliable 300bhp. i thought it was a sensible target. If i find anything interesting i will share it with you. waiting for a rolling road session to come up so i can see where I'm at and how many more i need to find. Would rather not go on my own as i've never done it before and have no idea what i'm doing.

im also looking at getting a power test done before i do anything just to make sure its all running ok, and a mate of mine is wanting to do one wen he gets his back to togeather.they usually do group discounts i think not posative tho as never done one.but im sure we can sort something out 8-)

yeah, I'm up for that. I'm sure a few more around here would like to join in. Hopefully some with experience to point us in the right direction. Maybe we can broach the subject at Chailey in a couple of weeks.

Depends how much your looking at spending.
I'd be looking at a bigger Intercooler as the early wrx one isn't great, possibly a change of turbo, a power FC ecu, a decat downpipe and system, probably keep to 2.5" if your wanting to stay at 300bhp, maybe something with fuelling.
A good health check on the car too with a diagnostic on a rolling road

hi all havent updated the thread for a long time i now have the following on my car. arc tmic also sti 8 bonnet scoop for better air flow as i herd the std ones arent that great 3 inch turbo back decatted exhaust z4 ecu rather than the 2c that was in the car. the car it feeling really strong and pulls very well ive aslo fitted a tempereture gauge and ambient temp sensor under the intercooler to monitor temps and it sits at 15c on a drive with i think is fair considering under bonnet temps. can anybody advise me on things i need to look out for now ie det, boost kreep ect as this is the first scoob i have had and dont want to blow it up any advice would be much appreciated thanks people:doubleup:
