dump valve for classic

dump to atmosphere means you are dumping air thats already gone past the MAF and the fuel being sent to your engine will be momentarily rich when your DV blows.
Recirc DV obviously gets rid of this.
You can get dual DV's that are semi recirculating (Turbosmart I think do one) which lessens the problem a bit as you can set some to recirc and some to vent to atmosphere.

Before you fork out on a DV though, you could try my setup.
Leave the standard DV in place and simply remove the intake snorkel in the drivers side wing. This allows you to hear the standard recirculating DV. not very loud, but its a unique sound that you wont hear that much on scoobs.
you do hear turbo spool louder too which I think sounds cool.

also for the record, i;m running a very loud exhaust so the dump with the snorkel removed is loud enough to be heard, although I only realy hear it loudly when I give it some beans

hi m8,this snorkel in the wing, can you see it from engine bay or do need to remove wheel arch cover to see it,can only see air box intake, cheers wayne

andy-m 24-10-2011 04:16 PM

its in the wing.
if you open the air box n remove the panel filter, you will see there is a hole in the air box which goes through in to the wing. thats the start of the snorkel.
if you remove your wheel and then your plastic wheel arch liner, you will see the snorkel.

Wayne, before you remove your intake snorkel, I did a vid so you can hear what it sounds like. sounds a bit louder than on the vid, but you get the idea:-

any ideas on how to do this(photos or walkthrough) .I had a go a few months ago ,got the plastic liner off but couldnt remove the big black plastic thing.

andy-m 29-10-2011 01:30 PM

I threw the snorkel so cant do photo's but you probably couldnt pull it out as you need to remove the air filter box under the bonnet first to get to the bolt behind it which holds the intake snorkel in place.

searched the net n found this which may help :-
