Porting Heads, worth it?

Since the heads have got to come off to get the valve seals replaced I was thinking of getting them ported/polished I've had a very good quote from Paul Finch which I'm thinking of going for - how much of a difference am I likely to see on std cams?

Porting & polishing will smooth things up & certainly help. If its a good price then why not. :drive:

Cams , valve springs , valves & retainers and a smooth out will see most gains / safety

I think....... they are Sti 8 (2.0) Single AVCS heads (UK spec)

Definately AVCS and only inlet side but they were supplied as part of my build.

C.J - I guess it would be worth looking at new uprated valves and springs/retainers when the heads are rebuilt/ported - any suggestions? Pretty certian I won't be able to afford new cams and only plan to stay around the mid to high 400's (well until I get the block pinned ;-))

Aren't these dual AVCS? If so will my Syvecs run them? Also I guess they'd need opening up to match the bores on my 2.5 plus I read something about getting the combustion chambers sized to suit the 2.5 or is that the same thing?
