Heat wrap and panel filter for remap?

On the 15th the car will be decatted and is then booked in at SRR with simon to be mapped. 2 Questions.

1. Is there anything to be gained by heat wrapping the down pipe?

2. Is it worth me chaning the panel filter , and if so which one. Looking at a K & N or Green, but notice there is a cossy one too. Any gains to be had doing this?

Any help would be great..

Heat wrap worth doing not only for heat soak prevention but it also deadens the noise and some rining you can get from the DP.

I recommend the Green filter

I would say the heat wrap is a good move. To help alleviate heat soak.

What panel filter do you have already? When I first changed from a standard, I had a K&N, then had a green. Very little if any difference between those two IMHO. Someone else might tell you different?

I think in all tests I have seen the Green always marginally beats the K&N.
I certainly witnessed very good airflow improvements when I had one in the classic and it's ran for many years without damaging the MAF, which some of the oil lubed foam filters will do.

Sounds like the heat wrap is worth doing then. I will order it when getting the downpipe.

The panel filter at the moment is just the standard STI one. Think I will go green!

I think you can buy it at RCM mate!

Check the prices online and then take 10% off. It's not cheap, so might be well worth buying up there!

Ive never heat wrapped my downpipes until my rotated kit as a pipe runs close, never suffered any problems but with yours having a tmic its prob a good idea

If your getting the pipe from RCM, have a look at the ceramic coatings they do:ok:

The downpipe is coming from Scoobyworld as it will match up with the rest of my afterburner system and the centre pipe from scott. Looks like they also do heat wrap at pretty reasonable prices so will probably order it all at the same time. £10.50 for 50mm x 5m. Guessing that will be enough for the downpipe.
