Anyone ever tried to take apart autometer gauges?

My gauges each have a button on the front to change the backlighting colour which means each time i get into the car, i have to change them to the only colour i like. Just wondering if anyone knows how to get them apart so that i can move the leds around and get the colour i like to light up first without smashing them to pieces.

Cheers!

*autogauge... not autometer

Is there not a permanent 12V supply that should be connected to keep the colour as left i.e. memory effect I know mine does (but I didn't hook it up in case of battery drain).

There is but for the same reason, thats why i'd rather change the bulbs around so that it lights up green first time.

I've taken an Autometer apart and also a 'Defi', but 'FAILED' when taking apart a ProSport (not worred  as alot cheaper then the Defi would of been if I knackered that one).

Defi and Autometer just need the rear crimping of the front bezel lifting with a small blade until you can work the back cover off. Sometimes there is also a couple of small screws holding the back cover on.

Once that's off you may need to remove the needle to get the dial face off and access to the circuit board.
Best thing to get the need off is the back of a tea spoon slide underneath.

Ah ok, so i should just be able to prise the front off then i'll need a spoon lol. I'll have a go over christmas. Cheers chaps!
