It looks lush without the plate Steve, looks bloody good with too though :ok:

munk 08-01-2012 10:15 PM

Stealth look without the plate very smart!!

Gavsti555 08-01-2012 11:46 PM

I cut my plates down years ago. Who would have thought a standard plate could be cool

XRS 09-01-2012 10:05 AM

Looks good Steve. Where did you get the plate?

Gavsti555 09-01-2012 11:18 AM

I cut mine with a chop saw then filed on the radius on the corner then polished up the edges for that factory made look and took only an hour to do.

If Darth Vader drove a car that would be it! Looks stunning!

bobsta 09-01-2012 06:28 PM

What's the smallest size plate you can get away with guys

Gavsti555 09-01-2012 06:50 PM

Its around 13-15mm border. I measured the gap from the top of the letters to the edge of the plate then made the border on the ends the same. Mine have been like it for years and never been an issue with mot as it is a standard plate

XRS 09-01-2012 07:17 PM

I'm sure I read on the DVLA site that the minimum gap/space around the letters is 11mm.

Lucky 09-01-2012 07:54 PM

Thanks guys. LOL at darth vader!, thanks matey. The plate came from platesforcars and this size is the smallest legal size.

Gavsti555 09-01-2012 08:25 PM

Mine is a lot shorter than that as there is only 5 characters check my pic to see how small with the legal border.

Lucky 10-01-2012 01:04 PM

Corrected to say that is the shortest legal with 6 characters. As Gav says, it can be shorter still with 5 characters.

Looks good Steve:10: but, it does look like you could still shave a bit of the edges as they look over 11mm?

What have you done with the rear? I always like the larger (oversized)plate on the back myself:nod:

AndyWRX 10-01-2012 01:56 PM

Totally agree with you mate, think alot of car look better with out numberplates, when i had my rx7 every pannel on it curves and flows then youve got a big length of white plastic stuck on the bumper :-(
