Black or White? or something wacky?
Hi chaps, would like your views please :sos:
Been thinking over the past few weeks that i want to paint my alloys after reading silversurfers little project and try to get away from the normal alloy shade, but i cant decide what colour. Black or white keeps coming to mind and seems sensible but i cant visualise what would look better :brickwall: something rather out here like red too keeps coming to mind but i keep telling myself not to be stupid :acid:. here's the type of alloy that i have, http://i42.tinypic.com/msncz5.jpg |
p.s how do i scale pics down thats HUGE!!!!:?:
|
I wouldn't go back as you lose the definition/detail in the wheel imo. White is cool but a pig to clean and not sure it would work with that style or wheel? Gunmetal? Bit common now but would suit the car i reckon.
ps. discs and calipers look nice and shiny 8-) |

p.s I take it though gun metal is a few shades darker than my current car colour, dont want it to match too close! |
Gunmetal is dark grey mate.
I've got a mate that can put them in a plop tank , falling that you need to use 101 neat and then rub down . Tbh it's going to take a few hours each wheel to prep |
Leave them as they are:nod: Car looks good:10:
|
Have to disagree Ron, look to plain for my liking

Have you got any 101 for me to purchase? i have got some wonder wheels akaline stuff which isnt a bad cleaner for stuborn stuff. |
|
Oh now you've done it Ron! Im sooooo leaning towards the white now
Not sure about the two tone rim but i know you may be leaving it and doing just the center for reference purpose's. |
I had white on mine same colour car, looked cool don't know if you remember seeing it I've got photos on my I phone but don't know how to upload them
|
Yep white gets my vote too.
Yes mate, will bring some more over |
White you'll be sorry.
Pewter is what you want IMHO. The same as a WR1 but each to their own. and a set of PFF7s.... |
If i get time tomo to prep one properly i may be painting a wheel white after my brakes are bled! :ok:
Any ideas on what make or type of (maybe white) paint to use, i .e plasticote, hammerite, normal car spay paint and lacquer etc ? |
agree with ian apart from keep the wheels

my mate wraps wheels, if you dont like it you can always peel it off http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...5049594&type=3

Think you need a darker colour with colour of car fella, just my opinion really but either black or gunmetal grey as said before, if your car was a lighter silver colour then id say white, up to you though as long as your happy with it thats all that matters :-)

As our cars are similar colours, the Vauxhall Steel Grey Mettalic - Code 114/82: Steel Grey Met (91-94)
It used should work well. It's darker then the car and can almost look black when on the move, but not so dark when stationary to loose all the detail. I will defo be painting my next set the same colour as the ones I wantonly come in Silver or Black. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...1/IMG_0411.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...T/IMG_0425.jpg |

here you go majorscooby :ok:
|
Both colours look very nice but would it look like a bad colour match as nick has said to me on FB doing it in a random mettalic grey? My scoob seems a lot darker in the flesh than in that profile pic.
So i suppose i could colour match the wheels to the car as i can get the spray from paints4u.com (86f) but then would it look to much? How can it be so blooming hard to choose a colour, lol. I know, one wheel each colour, job done! |
RB5 isn't a colour matched wheel, but is still anthracite.
IMHO it would look more like a bad colour match even if it were colour matched due to the various light angles. I don't like colour matched as it looks too much, hence why I went several shades darker. |
