how do i get these horrible pink stickers off?
 

hi i want to know the best way to remove my pink sti stickers from my bug fog light covers, any suggestions? they seem really stuck on there!:sos:

Heat gun or a hair dryer

i have tried a heat gun on it but seems to be a very slow process, i was hoping that wasnt the best way, cheers

I took the 12 year old white ones off of mine and just sat there and picked.................slowly!!!! :doubledown:

Then i gave one to the missus ( cover that is ) and she did the other, slowly also. you'll need patients im affraid fella. :cry:

Bit of heat first as mentioned then a good pick at it,warmer you get it the less chance you have of leaving any glue behind, iv always used the hair dryer:-)

ok sounds like its the only way then :doh: i cant even take the covers out as the screw to remove them twists the whole bracket that holds them on! (rusted up) thank you all for the feedback :ok:

As mentioned, heat gun is the only way really.

As already said, heat them up. One tip though for remaining glue is nail varnish remover. Works a treat on sticky stuff. :ok:Not that my mrs was too impressed, sat out on the drive with her hair drier and make up products!!

Another good sticky stuff remover is good old furniture polish.

Nothing flash, a bit of Pledge or Mr Sheen. Spray on, leave to dwell for 10 seconds or so and wipe off, you might need to do a couple of go's though. :ok:

As said really, heat gun/hair dryer and use a plastic blade (helps keep heat on whilst removing without burning fingers:ok:)to lift the sticker, ease them off, don't rush, let the heat do its thing.......

Use any of the above to remove residue, or even some IPA to wipe and clean surface, clay bar also works well (plenty of lube) and will help with any ghosting that may be left:ok:

Dip a rag in petrol and wipe over the stickers, obviously dont smoke while you do it :)

haven't got round to doing this yet but i will see which way works best :ok:

+1 Autoglym instant tar remover

there was too much of it so ive changed the colour! it looked a tad girly! :whistle:

Oxyacetylene was waaaaaaay too harsh when I tried

I used a plasma cutter and a angle grinder and then dipped it in Fluoroantimonic acid, seems to have done the trick

Did you do it fella? Best way i use is heat it up with a hair drier, and pick the stickers off, then use autoglym intensive tar remover to get rid of the glue and polish it up afterwoods.

Another way, and people will probably take the piss out of me is a stanley knife blade. everyone thinks it will take the paint off but if you do it right its perfect and dosent touch the paint. soak or put lots of autoglym intensive tar remover on the sticker then prise up one corner of the sticker, then at a shallow angle gently run the blade underneath the sticker and remove the left over glue with intensive tar remover.

ive done it twice and it works perfect and dosent damage the paint, but it can go horribly wrong if you done pay attention, also it works best on old hard type stickers not fresh soft ones.
