SES will be attending this event and want our members to enjoy a great day out.
For this special weekend SES will have a stand present and will also be arranging Track time for members to enjoy a 15 minute session on the Goodwood Circuit.
Due to the special rate offerered to drive this historic circuit, SES intend to pay for this in advance, so please do your very best to fill the slots allocated below. SES will not be making a profit, but obviously we will make a loss if we do not fill the places.

Not only will SES be there, but a whole host of other clubs and activities, including passenger rides in Time Attack Cars (see promotional details in the following post)

This event will have three main elements focusing on providing a great day out for families and petrol heads alike. The Track day:

All cars will be subject to a noise test at a static 98dBs @ 75% revs at a distance of 3 metres and also subject to a drive- by noise test of 96dBs.
Some of the cars attending so far include a McLaren MP4-12C, Aston Martin V12, Ferrari F355 Spider, Ferrari 360; the list is on the rise so please get in touch if you would like to attend in either track or static form.
The Chairman of Virgin Racing has kindly donated F1 memorabilia for auction and raffle. He has also donated Virgin merchandise with the proceeds going to the Henry Surtees Foundation. Building on an already proven and exhilarating attraction, the Sporting Bears will be carrying out their famous Dream Rides around a 10 mile route of Goodwood through the beautiful Sussex countryside.

WHY
The event is in aid of the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Childrens Fund RNRM Childrens Fund| http://www.rnrmchildrensfund.org.uk/about-us/ with all proceeds going directly to the charity. Formed in 1902 it is one the oldest childrens charity in the UK. They support children with mental and physical disabilities, however due to operations in Afghanistan the support to families due to bereavement has risen sharply over the last few years.
As we can all see from the news, the fatalities have been heavy and the charity is committed to looking after the bereaved children and supports them up to the age of 21. Over the course of 2010/11 we assisted 1600 children at an average cost of 798 per child. Of these:
49% were suffering from a disability or mental or physical illness.
40% were due to the consequence of parental illness or death.
11% due to the impact of parental relationship problems (these are increasingly due to the parents post traumatic stress)

Out of interest,

do the sessions have different categorises ie novice, intermediate and experienced ? :drive: :drive:

I'd guess that its all the same. However, knowing Goodwood, there won't be many cars on circuit at once so wouldn't expect you to have to worry about traffic issues....

Only 10 cars out each session and Goodwood track days are so much more spaced out and quieter compared to Brands.

Any idea if I can get a noise test before Goodwood - not sure a pro drive box will fit my system

I know i managed to get noise tested at one of the Saywell days, know my current exhaust was about 101db. There's another one of those on the 26th May but no use for those going to the Ring. Would have thought they would be able to noise test it on any day the track is in use if you called them in advance?

Another thing we need to know is when they will be doing the noise testing. If everything has to be tested before the first session starts, it won't lend itself to a bit of quick backbox swapping before going on track at your chosen slot.

I sold my prodrive box a couple of years ago for 50 quid :doh:

Sounds great, might even get the family to tag along with the lure of a bouncy castle and book stalls.... ;)

I have trouble making the 104 Db limit as I run at 105 ?

Normally 98 db at goodwood and they test at 3/4 instead of 2/3 of throttle . Also have 3 places around the track for flyby which for any turbo car is a arse!
So if it's 104db may be one of 10days a year your get on goodwood .

Where did the 104db talk come from? Unfortunately its 98db guys, so backbox swapsies needed.

They do have 10 days that they have a higher limit on so as Clive mentioned it I thought that this was to be one .
Any one with a 3" system I have a 600mm long , 100mm round silencer sitting in the garage that if you cut your centre section it can be clamped in place .Dropped mine by 15db , it's for sale as I got a 300mm version as it was too quiet !
