Ok, heres the problem and possibly a big one. He seems to think that hes front diff/gearbox has gone bang? :confused:

Not sure exactly what it is but he can get in gear, although when he tries to pull away in first or second the car is being held back by something then it lets go with a almighty bang from the front end.
It also doesn't want to roll in neutral so me is thinking it may not be the gearbox, but i am only guessing not seeing or hearing it myself!
How hard is it to strip the front end down and does any one have a rough idea of what has gone kaput?! front diff/ gearbox :sos:

Please post up with any thoughts or pm him with some things he could try to diagnose what it could be!

could be front diff , more likly to be a gear itself and jaming up on the layshaft ect... costly :doubledown:

Sounds like lay shaft jamming as Tone says.#I had similar on my old Rs1600i, couldn#t enage gear and anoccasional crackfrom inside gearbox.
Each crack ended up being teeth coming off the lay shaft.

Why ! :confused:
I just sold a 5 speed box , drive shaft and rear diff for £400 so its not big potatoes to fix !
