Fitting Window Tint film
 

Looking to fit window tint film to the rear windows of my van,but having read the instructions it looks a bit complex.Anybody done this?,any tips.Thanks.

Myself and Ron have done it yes to my old classic.

Its an art for sure.

Heat gun is a must , you will not get it to fit onto any glass that is curved withoiut one.
Side windows are generaly really easy.

Another must, is to size up and apply the film to the outside of the car first.

Do not think a hairdryer will work, i can tell you after 3 hours of trying , it doesnt, its not hot enough.

If you havnt already, watch some you tube videos on how to do it first.

Thanks guys,I thought this might be difficult.In the instructions with the product it says to spray glass with a solution of mild washing up fluid and water and then to use a squeegee.Do you think a heat gun would be better?

As Andy said you do both.
The spray with water is to allow you to slide and manipulate the film.
A lot of people use cloth softener with water . You need to really make the surface wet , get the film in place then use heat gun and squeegee to work the air old and get the film flat, that's the bit hats an art .
Don't be afraid of getting the film hot , also it really does pay to get a high grade film, it's thicker and stronger than some of the eBay cheaply stuff.

I watched a professional do a rear window on a scoob and he made it look so easy , but it was all how he used the heat gun and squeegee working from the centre out to edges .

Had a go at this and after 2 hours of chasing air bubbles I chucked a 5ltr container of petrol with a lighted rag in it into the back of the van and went to the pub.

I tinted the windows on my old van, didnt use a heat gun but im sure it helps, basically cut it to size with loads of overhang got the window and tint film completly soaked with soapy water then placed it on the window and got it centered, used a rubber squegee and worked from the center outwards and when it got to the edges just trimmed the excess film off when when the squegee pushed it to the edge as i went, turned out great no air bubbles or ripples :-)
