Mystery turbo ??? HELP ME !!!
 

Hello people

Can anyone help with this issue please or point me in a direction of someone who can.
I have a 1997 wrx jdm import
Just recently my turbo has beem making an excessive whistling sound
the car is on 94000 miles so i suspect that bearings in turbo on way out.
My problem is the turbo is missing some vital info so i cant identify it !
It is an IHI turbo but on the section where the spec and code numbers should be is blank :sos::sos::splat:
The only thing i can make out is RF5 but there is at least 3 different types as far as i know.
Have spoken to couple of turbo refurb companies and cant give me prices or any help unless i have all or most turbo info.

I did try contacting kinghams subaru in croydon because the only way to find out info is for a dealer to e-mail subaru japan.
They will do it if i buy the turbo from them and as we all know will cost 2 arms 2 legs and then some.

As i said any help would be really appreciated

Likely to be a vf24

and also likely to cost far more for parts than to simply by another turbo................

unfortunately IHI are not known for well priced overhaul parts
