First Clay bar today!!
Used the clay bar for the first time today and I must say i'm amazed and disgusted at the amount of dirt that actually came off.
I forgot to take any pictures of the clay but the bottom of the doors, skirts, rear bumper and the bonnet were the worst. The boot lid wasn't too bad surprisingly. Started at 7 this morning with a good wash, followed by megs clay bar with quick detailer as lube, then used Poor boys super swirl remover 2.5 (wasn't very impressed with this) Then it was time for Poor boys black hole glaze which I was very impressed with and it smells lovely. Finally I finished with a coat megs nxt tech wax (I did plan to use poor boys natty blue paste but couldn't get hold of any in time). I will probably stick another coat of wax on tomorrow as I can't feel my right arm at the moment lol. My apologies for my finger appearing in some of the pics lol, http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7db1837b.jpg http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/...psb3837363.jpg http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0d16887d.jpg http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/...psb0c64569.jpg http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/...ps96600195.jpg http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0ab0440a.jpg http://i1283.photobucket.com/albums/...psc4faceeb.jpg |

Thanks Ian!!
|
Nice work. Mine is due the same treatment soon, just need to find a spare day!
You planning on lowering it? |
Thanks Steve.
Yeah lowering is my next job, I think I've finally find some Prodrive springs which hopefully will lower the car a little?? if not then it will be Teins. |
nice work bud!! not done mine for about a month and a half! shockin really!! just been given a brand new blue print by snap-on D.A with variable speed, really want to use it but scared to just incase i burn the paint, i wouldnt know how to get myself out of trouble! swirls are hard to get out by hand ive tried many differnt things, i brought some g3 scratch remover which is spot on!! might invest in a meguires D.A which is smaller and probly alot more easier to use! keep it up mate bet u felt chuffed once u were done lol its a mission and a half!! all you need to do now is keep it hidden from sea guls!!

Nice one Sam. Looks really nice. Will be easier to keep on top if now as well.

looking very clean sam
it looks like you've got the rear wheels on the wrong sides by the looks of the treads in the pic mate. |

think theres an arrow on the side of the tyre mate
|
Looks good Sam.
STI Prodrive springs don't lower a great deal. Tein s-tech do and I found these fine on the Hawk STi (same as the widetrack Blob), but terrible on the Classic. But then the spring rates are considerably different. |

Those with a new set of shocks will be great!

Looks spot on mate. That will be 1 of my first job as soon as I find a car, give it a good going over with the clay, or you can do it for me if you like. Lol.

However these are kinda stiff for the road and expensive!. Things might have changed now, The standard shocks can be re-greased but I would drop Camskill or Alyn at AS performance a line and see what they can do. Your shocks are the same as a hawks, not earlier blobs. I would not buy new ones from a stealer as they are.. 1. expensive and 2. prone to failure / knocking at the rear. Hopefully now you can get a decent set of KYB's or Bilsteins for it. (some RB320 shocks from pro-drive would be awesome sauce I suspect) |
Nice job.
I've always found it surprising how much crap comes off when you use a clay bar. Very satisfying when you see the results. |
Looking good sam haven't used the clay bar method yet , might try it one day when ive got time on my hands .
|
Looks stunning - can't beat the smooth paint feel of a freshly clayed car!
