AUTO gear selector struggles to select park, and 1st.
 

My recently purchased JDM bugeye auto sport shift WRX saloon has an 'effing gear selector problem :stop:

I'm not sure if the problem exists under the car or in the cockpit under the console trim.

I've scoured the internet (well NAISOC and some threads on sf.org) and I can find threads about cars stuck in park, but not the other way around, and in those cases it seems to be a corroded solenoid.

I'm not sure if it will turn out to be an electrical problem or some sort of mechanical linkage problem.

I no what I would try first riiidaa,is do a complete gearbox oil change.is it a triptronic gearbox. if that don't work get an evo ;-)

yes it is

try oil change also I think theres a little management system on the the gearboxes that can play up. my mate had a audi a4 with triptronic which did the same and main dealers said it needs a new gearbox 4.000,but he found out theres a little panel on side of gearbox with the management system in side which he replaced for £170
