Wheel bearings
Sounds like one of mine is on its way out, cant tell which corner it is though. How much are they and are they hard to do?

Re: Wheel bearings
i'm also interested in this question.
i'm getting a dull sounding rubbing noise from what i think is the rear drivers side wheel - the noise isn't always there but when it is, it sort of pulses and the speed of the pulse matches the speed of the car (faster when i speed up, if you know what i mean). Cars going to jaffa next week for a few bits anyway so he should find whats wrong :) |
Re: Wheel bearings
Bearings going bad for me in past years always seem to make a dull hum at about 60ish, under or over that it normally disappears! :brickwall: irritating

Re: Wheel bearings
easiestway to diagnose front bearings is remove pads, and drop the lower swivel out off the hub, pull the drive shaft out the hub and spin the disc.
bearings are around 50ish you need a press to push in bearing in to hub, most normally come out with about 6-7 tons . i charge 30 quid+ bearing |

(although you've put my mind at rest that if i've got a bearing problem too, its not to expensive to sort  ) |
Re: Wheel bearings
not too bad to about an hour and a half each side you do really need special tool thou makes it a lot easier also fit a speedy sleeve to the dshaft to stop it happening again
