Save Brighton Speed Trials

As per title, to no surprise, Brighton Council are looking to refuse permission for the 2014 speed trails to take place. Please take a look at the link and sign the petition, sadly Motorsport events are getting quashed more and more these days.

Thanks for the link signed happy Xmas

No worries mate. Saw this morning there's over a thousand signatures now, which is good but a mere fraction of those that attend this event each year. It's not just because it's local or the fact I enjoy it so much but the powers to be keep on stopping Motorsport events for various reasons. We need to stand up and be counted otherwise we all may aswell sell up and go buy a Prius!

Merry Xmas to you too, hope you and the family have a good one :-)

Signed,

Get this on as many southern car forums as you can fella. Did someone post it up on Pistonheads?

ScoobyStu 22-12-2013 05:23 PM

Nice one. No saw it on Facebook mate as I'm a member of the speed trials group!haha. Nothing exclusive, just a group on there. I'm not on a great deal of car forums to be honest, will stick it up on the WOC and Scoobynet if not already done though. Please feel free to share amongst who ever you see fit. :-)

I would sign....but them again I might not. As it's such a closed shop and funny handshake setup part of me thinks they deserve it.
It needs a serious kick up the **** and open it up to alot more entrants.

Agreed, it became an event for those 'in the club' and became very repetitive with the same cars running every year. I appreciate that it has to comply with saftey etc but it would be good to open it up to more people/cars. Worth saving definately, but with some changes. Signed

2066 signed now, I realise this is quite a closed event, but they have managed to keep it going for such a long time. I wish the state would let us live a little, we are getting more suppressed by the day, can't do this, can't do that. Motorsport will be almost gone before long with so many venues under threat.

I've bunged the link on our ses fb page

I understand that completely and agree entirely. I've no affiliation with those that run it or sponser it, definitely not my 'type' of people! I'd actually go as far to say a lot of them are snobs to be honest but, it's a historic event that shouldn't be wiped out because the latest bunch of 'world changers' don't like cars. That's my reason for feeling so strongly about it.

Again, can't disagree with anything you've put. In fact, I wholey agree. To my knowledge, you have to be a member of Brighton and Hove actually motor club(what what) which isn't expensive by all accounts. How easy it is to gain entry from that though I've no idea. Not easy would be my guess!

Totally agree. If it carries on the way it is, Motorsport will become yet another thing only certain members of the elite can do.

Yes mate definitely. Looking forward to them already. They're the first Saturday of September this year instead of the second as it usually is. :-)
