stuff behind the grill

Can I do anything to polish up the radiator behind the grill? And, the heat exchanger looking bit behind the wrx badge, can I paint it with anything to make it less rusty looking or will that ruin the cooling? Heat proof paint?

The Pas cooling ring can be painted as can the rad, however it may affect performance, I've used Eastwood radiator paint.

I know what you mean but I'm not too bothered by other people looking in there, it's to satisfy my own ocd'ness. It's another little cheap thing I can do which might help me hold off from wanting to do something expensive for a bit longer :) think I'll start with the metal polish. Thanks guys!

use a good degreaser, and then maybe some dash cleaner to bring the black back? Also being dash cleaner, it may resist UV, and won't be too affected by heat...just an idea...
