well i'm off to the somme on friday for my first visit....great timing for the weather and the centenery. Anyone been? I do have an agenda when I am there but any special must see places that I should try to go?

I'll be doing ypres and passchendeale another time.

I was thinking about doing pachendale on the way back from Germany.
You know............... from the traditional direction.

although its well down south, I went to a place in France
Oradeur Sur Glane a few years ago

its what's left of a village that was decimated during the war.

almost all of the people were killed and the village has never been touched.

the new village was built above it

I still have the pictures online
