Turbo engage...

Morning all,

Just wondered - on a standard 2002 bugeye - when is the turbo meant to kick in?

Mine tends to kick in at about 4000rpm - which seems a little late to me...

Id have thought it would be nearer 2500-3000rpm?

Mine car is completely standard besides a rear back section exhaust.

Its off to the rolling road meet on Sat, so sure they will tell me how bad things are :ok:

Just curious.

Ryan

Sounds late, but the power run will show what's going on boost-wise definitively yes.

Probs a sticky/lazy wastegate...unless the car has been mapped to come on later I suppose.

hasn't been mapped - so hopefully your right...sat will tell for def :-)

VF30 turbo, think the same as uk. Don't think my one has been mapped.

UK 2.0 STi's use a VF35...........should spool earlier than that IME

Thanks for all the info... I still feel it should come in sooner but the dyno run yest proved me wrong - running 281.1bhp and to my knowledge it only has a back box and air filter?!?!? Charlie said everything else is spot on running perfectly so I'm pleased about that :-)

Was a good result that :ok:

Thanks Steve - I was genuinely shocked....so pleased I have a good base to start with :-)
