Unplug your MAF and see if that helps it to start at all.

Also it stinks of fuel once started

Makes no difference if the maf is connected or not

It will smell of fuel as its pumping unburnt fuel into the cylinders,

When you say it doesn't start? Is it cranking over or is there nothing ?

Cranks over sometimes for about a min before it starts
