Wheel squeak
Hi guys!
I seem to have a really annoying squeak coming from my wheels. There is no squeaking when I first drive the car, but after about 15 minutes it starts squeaking softly, and it gets louder the more I drive. Its more noticeable at low speeds, but that may just be because of road noise at higher speeds. I've heard it may be the pads rubbing on the rotor (not that I know what this means), or even the front heat shields rubbing. Anyone have any idea what this could be? Is it a common issue? Thanks! |
Could be brake pads rubbing, or a sticky brake piston, or possibly even a wheel bearing. none of which are serious.
How much meat is there on the pads? |
Probably a sticky caliper piston.

Thanks, I'll check both.
If it's a sticky caliper piston, is it an easy fix? |

i have had this for a while on my scoob, and that was after I had refurbed the callipers (And no, it wasnt wheel bearing)
if you have sliding callipers (i.e. 2-pot fronts or single pot rears) the metal edge of the pads sometimes need to be filed a bit as they are a tight fit in the calliper. As they get hotter with more driving, they expand and therefore squeak more. If you go on the motorway, the airflow cools it a bit more and the squeaking reduces. At least thats what happened to me till I worked out what was going on |
