What's realistic?

Hi guys,

Just a question really...but what is realistic bhp to aim for without making the car undriveable everyday, and also without spending tens of thousands...

I know I could spends loads and have a quick car, but does 350bhp seem reasonable for couple of grand in the right places?

I know brakes, and handling need to go hand in hand but I wondered what direction or goal you all had for ur cars when u got them?

Also, I know bov are a real debate on here, but is it possible to run a bov non-recirc without hampering running or performance?

Just random quest for the eve :chug:

Cheers

Ryan :polish:

Rdlangy1 07-09-2014 08:56 PM

Wow that easy...blimey thanks bud...

When u say full decat what bout mot pass etc?

Rdlangy1 07-09-2014 08:58 PM

Also, what is kinda the max bhp recommended before changing bits like injectors, and pistons etc...I.e what bhp can a standard car take safely?

C. J. 07-09-2014 08:58 PM

Rdlangy1 07-09-2014 09:02 PM

Pinks? Injectors? Soz I am a newb pmsl...ha ha... So poss to get to 400bhp with little more spending or into big bucks after 350? Thanks for ur help thus far...

Must get back to see u and Charlie on the rollers when I start all this...

After Xmas hopefully.

Rdlangy1 07-09-2014 09:03 PM

And ur view on bov's?

C. J. 07-09-2014 09:09 PM

Don't bother on bov over what the standard turbo does will start to cost but your have one to sell :)
Close to 400 on £2.5k I think is do able all depends where you buy and how much you do :)

Rdlangy1 08-09-2014 06:03 AM

Appreciate your help bud...

That's it then...new target of 400bhp :-)

Rdlangy1 08-09-2014 08:28 AM

So Im guessing early stages of development would be:
Decat Exhaust -
Decent Air Panel Filter -
Uprated Walbro Fuel Pump -
JGM Remap -

Anyone have any other suggestions to get me on my way?

Above and beyond the above will be a lot of Whiteline bushes, and ARB's and anti lift bits e.t.c. to help suspension.

and all of that ontop of it needed new brakes all round - new clutch and flywheel, and finally its 60k major service!

yay ! ha ha

Appreciate anymore feedback people can give on what I should do, and what would give best bang for my buck!

Cheers

Ryan

I have a MD321h sitting here what is a 400bhp turbo

Rdlangy1 08-09-2014 09:41 AM

PM'd...

although being the newb I am - Id have to see what I would need to go with it, and start building up a parts list.

As much as I would like to just bolt a turbo on :-) ha ha

If you're going ARBs, droplinks, anti-lift kit and even re-bushing parts, then its worth refreshing the suspension first if its still on original shocks/springs. Its amazing the difference between new shocks and something thats been on the car for 12+ years :)

Or go coilover route of course....

Rdlangy1 08-09-2014 12:14 PM
